As is becoming her usual fashion, the Mexican actress and fashion icon, Salma Hayek, shared with her fans a picture of her in a swimsuit to celebrate an important hallmark of her life.
The “House Of Gucci” actor and wife to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, posed on the beach in a bright blue one-piece with a halter neck, while the palm trees and waves provided a picturesque backdrop.
“Happy 55th birthday to me. Looking forward to new adventures #grateful,” Hayek captioned the shot and added a dancing emoji. She also added the same message in Spanish with the hashtag, #vivalavida.
The “Frida” actor shared another picture from her vacation destination. It featured her at the pool side. She donned purple cat-eye eyeglasses and a blue button-down shirt near some villas.
Jason Momoa, Richard Madden, Pierce Brosnan and the Editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful, were amongst the many who flocked to the comments to wish Hayek a happy birthday.
Last year, the actress followed the same tradition. She came out for her big day in a sunny yellow cutout maillot by Melissa Odabash along with a matching maxi skirt.
Hayek previously opened up to Entertainment Tonight that sharing bikini pictures was “liberating” for her.
She mentioned she had to lose a lot of weight and exercise to get into her bikinis. This happened towards the end of last year, she explained, adding that she took a myriad of pictures once she hit that milestone.
“I’m glad I took a lot of pictures, I have no shame on it, because it was the first week of the vacation,” said the actress.
She added, as a joke, that once the week ended, she slipped into different habits. She went back to consuming gargantuan amounts of food. Although she looked different now than she did on vacation, Hayek was always happy to share throwback pictures.
“I saved my pictures, I’m not in the same condition today and I’m spreading the love out like every two weeks,” she said. “I’m going to put up another one. I’m almost running out of them but I don’t know if you have that feeling, like, 2021,” she said.
When asked about the frequency of her bikini posts, she admitted that they were a bit much and planned to tone it down for a while.
“People are sick of it but I’m going to let them take a break. They’re going to think I’m wearing a bikini every day,” said the Oscar-nominee. “No, they’re all from the same location,” she concluded.
Hayek And The Red Table Talk
Recently, Hayek made an appearance on an episode of the “Red Table Talk,” hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith. She spoke on menopause and how she has aged gracefully. She noted that a woman’s age shouldn’t be a limitation to whatever she wanted to do.
She could kick ass at any age, she could dream at any age, she could be independent at any age, she could even be romantic at any age. “There’s no expiration for women,” the actress said.
Hayek explained that it was a woman’s right to be loved for who she was, rather than who they wanted her to be. Women, she pointed out, weren’t just here to make babies or cater to the man.
“We’re not just here to service everything and everyone around us and then when the kids go away. It’s almost like expiration date for you as a woman. It’s a misunderstanding that has been going around for centuries,” she concluded.
Speaking on menopause, Hayek pointed out that many women were embarrassed to admit that they were approaching menopause or are already menopausal. She however, hopes to disrupt that narrative. Hayek mentioned that she is a very feminine and sexual being when she wants to be. She only just happened to not be getting her periods anymore.
Angelina Jolie Shoved Hayek’s Face Into Her Cake
A day after her birthday, the Mexican actress showed a video from the festivities. The video featured Angelina Jolie, her brother Sami Hayek, and a group of friends.
“My brother and me trying to teach Angie how to do the mexican mordida,” Hayek captioned the post and added the Spanish version.

In the video, the group chanted “Mordida! Mordida!” until Jolie reluctantly shoves Hayek’s face into the cake for the first bite, as part of a Mexican birthday tradition.
“Do it,” you could hear Hayek say to Jolie as the actor and philanthropist buoyed herself up.
During an interview with The Sunday Times Style, Hayek opened up on why she waited until she was in her 40s to get married and have children.
“I had reached a place in my career where I’d done a lot of things, I was so excited to be a mother,” she said. “I didn’t feel like it would take anything away.”
Hayek has been married to her billionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault, since 2009. He is the CEO of luxury retail conglomerate, Kering. They share a thirteen-year-old daughter, Valentina.
We wish Hayek a happy birthday and infinite happiness and fulfilment in the new year of her life.
