Zendaya Talks About Going To Therapy, First On-Screen Kiss & Future Goals During 'Vogue' Interview

The major project is an accomplishment that models and actresses across the world strive for. Along with the cover, the 25-year-old Spider-Man: Homecoming star answered several questions about her life in a special interview.

It was not the first time that she got interviewed by the publication. In fact, she did a video interview with the fashion magazine back in 2019, in which she answers 73 questions, ranging from her role model to the coolest things she learned from fans.

There are probably a few things that Zendaya's hardcore fans don't know about her, but Vogue gave their best shot at trying to uncover some innocent secrets about the actress, like her going to therapy.

“Yeah, of course I go to therapy,” Zendaya revealed. “I mean, if anybody is able to possess the financial means to go to therapy, I would recommend they do that. I think it’s a beautiful thing. You know, there’s nothing wrong with working on yourself and dealing with those things with someone who can help you, someone who can talk to you, who’s not your mom or whatever. Who has no bias.”

Just like everyone else, she experienced her “first kind of taste of sadness where you wake up and you just feel bad all day," during the pandemic. Zendaya described the feeling as like "what the f**k is going on? What is this dark cloud that’s hovering over me and I don’t know how to get rid of it, you know?”

She used her emotions in her film Euphoria when she portrayed a character named Rue, who often felt numb and has dealt with subjects such as addiction, sex, and violence. However, Zendaya points out that she's “the most sober person you could ask to play this part. I can only understand it to an extent, and then I have to lean on Sam. He was an addict for many years as a teenager. And he’s been clean since he was 19 years old. That’s the thing that makes me hopeful. When we have all this really dark sh*t – especially this season breaks my heart for Rue – there’s a glimmer of hope because I know that she is a version of him.”

Zendaya has played many roles but has only been filmed a few times with kissing scenes. That said, she revealed some details about her first on-screen kiss.

“I remember being on Shake It Up and being like, ‘I’m not gonna do this. I’m going to kiss him on the cheek because I haven’t been kissed yet so I don’t want the kiss to be on camera,’” she recalls.

Furthermore, Zendaya talked about how she wanted to be a filmmaker and her choice of leading women when asked about what she might tell her future children about what it’s like being black in America in this moment.

“I mean, that’s a big question. I don’t know – I don’t know what I’m going to tell them. Hopefully, they’ll be able to look at what I’ve done and my body of work and see it," she said.

"If I ever do become a film-maker, I know that the leads of my films will always be black women," Zendaya stated. “I gotta hurry up and figure out how to f**king become a director, man. I’m trying, I’m learning every day, I really am. There’s so much I want to do.”
