Prince Charles has quite an issue on his hands these days. One of his closest collaborators has recently stepped down from a post that he held for about 4 decades. That man is Michael Fawcett, and boy did he know how to climb the social ladder. Fawcett began working for the Royals as a footman to Queen Elizabeth. There it’s likely that he met and gained the trust of Prince Charles. With whom he’s worked for around 40 years. Unfortunately, some shady business practices are now forcing Fawcett to resign.
Boosting The Foundation At All Costs?
The accusations against Fawcett are really simple. Essentially he would offer different types of honors, and political gains to foreign dignitaries who would be willing to help Prince Charles’ foundation. With a quick word from the Prince of Wales, we can speed up that British citizenship of yours! At least that’s what we know from a letter obtained by The Mail on Sunday. In which Fawcett writes,
“In light of the ongoing and most recent generosity of His Excellency … I am happy to confirm to you, in confidence, that we are willing and happy to support and contribute to the application for Citizenship.”
It’s Not Just Citizenship That’s Being Offered
Have you always dreamed about becoming a knight or a Lord? Talking to Fawcett about it seemed to be a more legit way to fulfill that dream rather than going through this sketchy Facebook pages that promise to make you a British Lord. In the same letter, Fawcett later writes,
“I can further confirm that we are willing to make [an] application to increase His Excellency’s honour from Honorary CBE to that of KBE in accordance with Her Majesty’s Honours Committee.”
This Isn’t The First Time That Fawcett Is In Trouble
These accusations are not the first of their kind for Fawcett. In 2003, he was accused of selling off different gifts that had been given to the royals which, in turn, Prince Charles was not intent on keeping. In the wake of that scandal, Fawcett also stepped away from Charles’ official inner circle. Going on to start a business of his own. The Prince of Wales would then go on to hire Fawcett’s company on multiple occasions to cater to different Royal events. That’s how close these two really are.
Clarence House Knows Nothing
In keeping with the way that the Royals tend to handle PR Clarence House, the base of operations for the Prince of Wales, sent out a statement denying that Charles had any knowledge of what Fawcett was doing. While also mentioning that the Prince’s own foundation was conducting an investigation into the matter.
Knowing the way that Fawcett and Charles’ relationship has gone over the years it wouldn’t be odd to see Charles protect his close confidant once again. After all, Charles has explicitly said that Fawcett is the only man that was potentially indispensable in his staff! This really brings up a ton of questions. Did Charles really know this was going on? Was he actually promoting those tactics by Fawcett to secure funding for different projects of his?
