Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been attempting to get a divorce since 2016. The couple has not only been unsuccessful, but their dirty laundry also occasionally spills over, and shocking details are revealed. Jolie has been advised in the past not to speak about the divorce or bitter custody battle between her and Pitt. But, the actress has dropped a few details to The Guardian about where she and her soon-to-be ex-husband are at.
Feared For Her Kids Safety
When asked by the publication if she was fearful for her children, the Wanted actress danced around the question stating that she could not divulge any information about the open case. When pushed, Jolie nodded, signaling a “yes.” She explained, “for my family. My whole family,” noting that it took her a long time to get up the courage to actually end her 14-year marriage to Pitt.
“It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children.” Coming from a divorced home, The Eternals actress was “broken-hearted” to have to put her own children through the same thing.
‘It Has Been So Horrific’
Jolie shocked and divided fans when she claimed that the loveable actor had abused their adopted son Maddox who was 15-years-old at the time, on a flight from Nice, France. The mom of six also made other claims of abuse against the Oscar-winning actor.
The Tomb Raider actress alluded to Pitt throwing his own jabs at Jolie by getting a judge to bar their five younger children from being able to testify against him about the incident. “It has been so horrific that I almost have to see it as a godsend to be in a position to be able to fight this system.”
Jolie described the situation as “complicated” and gave her son Pax, 17, as an example. “My 17-year-old son Pax, for example, has been denied a voice in court,” she shared, calling the whole ordeal a “sacrifice.”
‘At Great Peace’
Regardless of the struggle, Jolie assures readers that she and her children are supported. “At the end of the day, even if you and a few people you love are the only people who know the truth of your life, what you fight for, or what you sacrifice, or what you’ve suffered, you come to be at peace with that, regardless of everything going on around you.”
Jolie currently has full custody of their five minor children, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and 13-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. However, Pitt and his lawyers have fired back, noting that in May 2021, the actor had joint custody of his children.

Moving On
The problems between Jolie and Pitt are not likely to be over anytime soon. Their fight for custody is only the latest battle the couple has shown up to court for. As for the incident with Maddox, the 20-year-old is now living in South Korea attending Yonsei University.
Far away from his parent’s divorce drama. Jolie admits that she has spent a lot of time focusing on her advocacy, maybe “too much time.” At one point, she welcomed that “advocacy work kept her distracted in some ways.” Now, she just wants her “family to heal.”
