At the reopening event for Jay-Z’s 40/40 club, the CNN commentator, Van Jones, addressed the rumors of his affair with Kim Kardashian. He said that he never dated her, and found the rumors “absurd.”
There have been silent rumors that the duo were romantically involved since the beginning of the year. The rumors later blew up when it was confirmed that the reality star had split from her rapper husband, Kanye West.
The rumors were eventually put to bed by Jones, when he mentioned to the news outlet that he never made any comments about the rumored relationship because it was absurd to him.
“It was flattering for me, but it probably wasn’t flattering for her,” The 52-year old political commentator added.
His comment came weeks after Kardashian laughed off the romance rumors during the “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s” reunion special, “The Final Curtain Part 1” with Andy Cohen. When asked about her alleged relationship with her luminary mentor, she mentioned that the rumors were good for her friend’s love life.
She said, “Van texted me and was like, ‘This rumour has gotten me so many dates and I’m so grateful, so I owe you.'”
The Duo Have Been Longtime Pals
Kardashian and Joe have known each other for many years. They first met at the White House in 2018, on a visit to advocate for criminal justice reform.
That same year, Kardashian went on his show to talk about her meetings with Donald Trump and her work on prison reform.
Her support of reform soon made headlines and garnered public attention when she teamed up to help Alice Marie Johnson, a woman in her 60s convicted on non-violent drug-related charges, fight for pardon.
When Jones made an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” he praised Kardashian continuously, noting the mother-of-four’s intelligence and brilliance. He also mentioned that she was going to make an “unbelievable lawyer.”
“She always wanted to be a lawyer. Once she got a taste for what she could do, using her platform, using her brain, she hasn’t let up,” said Jones, who doubled as Kardashian’s mentor throughout her legal pursuits.
Kardashian became an apprentice within Jones’ criminal justice reform organization and according to Jones, she’s “doing amazing.” He also explained that her father, the late Robert Kardashian, who famously worked on the Oj Simpson murder trial, inspired her to work in his footsteps.
Who Is Van Jones?
He is an American political commentator, author, and lawyer. He is also the co-founder of several non-profit organizations, a three-time New York bestseller, and an Emmy award winner. He was also the special advisor to President Barack Obama on Green Jobs.
He began his foray into his career with an affiliation with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, which brought him to the city as a legal observer in 1992.
He then went to co-found non-profit organizations like “Ella Baker Center for Human Rights,” “Color of Change,” “Green for All,” and “Advocates for Opioid Recovery.” He eventually became a CNN commentator on politics.

He owns a media company, called the “Magic Lab Media.” In 2016, this company produced “The Messy Truth Miniseries” which won a Webby award. He also produced another in 2020 called “The Messy Truth” VR experience, which also won an Emmy award.
Jones published his first book, “The Green Collar Economy,” in 2008. In this book, he described in detail his viable plan for solving the two biggest issues facing the country today—the economy and the environment.
He was formerly married to Jana Carter. The ex-couple tied the knot in 2005 and gave birth to two children, Mattai and Cabral. 13 years after their marriage, Carter filed for divorce.
Is Kardashian Using Jones?
Fans have slammed the “SKIMS” founder, who was reading for her Bar exams at the time, for using Jones to further her legal career.
A fan fired on Twitter wrote; “People are gonna look at Kim as using Kanye to advance her in the fashion world and using Van Jones to help advance her into her next career field in law.”
Another retorted; “Now Kim and Kanye are divorcing and the rumor is that Kim is cavorting with Van Jones as she is studying to be a lawyer.”
Much to the ignorance of their fans, Kardashian and Jones, who is best known in the legal scene for advocating criminal reform have known each other for years.
Wrapping It Up
Despite Jones’ effusive praise and overwhelming trust in Kardashian’s abilities, it’s been made crystal clear that the two are focused on their professional goals rather than some sort of romantic affair.
Although it is true that they share some common values and interests in reforming the criminal justice system, there’s plenty of evidence that proves that Kardashian is simply not looking for steamy romance at the moment.
Between raising her four kids, her ongoing divorce from estranged husband Kanye West, as well as her luminary studies, Kim Kardashian obviously has a very full plate and won’t want to add any other unnecessary burden to it.
