Even before the release of “Spiderman: The Homecoming,” it wasn’t hard to notice the chemistry between Zendaya and her co-star, Tom Holland.
For years, they had denied the rumors of them dating, but thanks to media footage of them kissing in the car, the rumors can no longer be ignored. The duo first met during Zendaya’s audition process for “Spiderman: The Homecoming.” Holland narrated how the first meeting felt embarrassing, explaining that “it wasn’t my sweetest moment.”
Zendaya, on the other hand, recalled the interaction differently. “He says when we first met it was super awkward because he went for a handshake and I went for a hug. But I don’t remember that. I thought it was cool,” she told Variety in 2017.
Holland admitted to The Hollywood Reporter, how Zendaya was one of the most professional and hardworking persons he had ever met.
“Even the professional producers liked her. Before she even left the room, they knew that she was going to play her character,” he stressed.
Since then, they’ve gotten along as friends, spoken fondly about their relationship while dodging dating rumors. Here is a complete timeline of their relationship, from the rumors to where they stand now.

In November 2016, Holland and Zendaya appeared in their first-ever joint cover for “Hollywood Reporter.” Zendaya shared the cover of the magazine on Instagram with the caption, “Amidst all the chaos and sadness, this one good thing did happen to me today. Honored to share it with the very best. Spider-Man himself @tomholland2013.”

The actor later told Esquire that it was the most stressful thing he ever did, and he wouldn’t do it again.
“It was amazing that I got to do it with Zendaya and yes, she did go there to have some fun and yes, I did go there to destroy,” he said. “But oh my god, that was easily the most stressful thing I’ve ever done in my life,” he said.
On the 1st of June, 2017, Zendaya called Holland a “‘great a– human being'” in one of the posts she shared for his 21st birthday. The photo was an outtake from one of their photoshoots, with Zendaya striking a mocking spidey pose.

In May 2019, Holland posted a picture of the press tour they had back in 2017. However, the British actor placed Zendaya’s tag on his groin. In September 2020, Zendaya broke up with her beau, Jacob Elordi. Jacob had reportedly gotten dinner for his new girlfriend, Kaia Gerber, on the first day of September, which also happened to be Zendaya’s birthday.
Again in August 2021, Page Six published photos of Zendaya and Holland making out, seemingly cementing their relationship. This was not confirmed or denied by either of them.
After months of no pictures, fans were finally sated when a picture of the duo attending a wedding together made rounds. This photo featured Zendaya and Holland sitting close to each other with their head touching. Zendaya donned a long tan dress, with a glow stick around her neck, while Holland kept it simple by putting on a white shirt and black pants.
