Reese Witherspoon is a mother of 3 and has proved she knows her way around when it comes to parenting. Recently though she sat down with Kristen Bell and Monica Padman for an episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert. In it Witherspoon revealed the early struggles that she had as a mother with her first child Ava. In detailing her struggles though she threw a ton of shade towards her ex husband Ryan Phillippe. Although she didn’t name him directly she basically said a lot of the problems were his fault.
Quitting The Business
Her work schedule and being a mom were overwhelming for her. She recalled in the interview that she was looking at the money she had saved up to that point, and contemplated quitting the business altogether. The idea was probably short-lived in her mind. Since, she had 3 movies come out in 1999. That same year that her daughter oldest was born. She followed that up with 2 movies in 2000 and a short-lived time on Friends.
The Lack of Support
What potentially rubbed Witherspoon the wrong way was the lack of support that she had from her husband at the time. Looking back on those days now, she recalls,

“I did not have a lot of support with my first baby and I learned really early, like this is not going to work,” she continued saying. “I tried to muscle through for five months with Ava, just not sleeping and I became delirious.”
Even after this potentially dreadful experience, she went on to have another kid with Ryan Phillippe. Before they ultimetly decided to split 2006.

She Couldn’t Work
We’re sure that Witherspoon had a rough time in her first days as a mother. Having to juggle your work-life balance can be rough. She talked in the interview though how she was so glad that she had saved up enough money. It just seems off though. Her time with her ex-husband Ryan Phillipe may not have been all that great. However, she’s always been a pretty lucky actress across the board. Of course, her talent helps. There wasn’t really a year where she completely stopped working even through her debut in motherhood.
One of The Best Actresses of a Generation
Again, we are not trying to downplay here her rough go at motherhood. Witherspoon, though, has been one of the most active female lead actresses for the better part of 25 plus years. We’re pretty sure that she’s got plenty of money saved in the bank if she doesn’t want to work. She’s been in at least one movie pretty much every single year since 1991. These days she’s still working on, The Morning Show, and also doing Legally Blonde 3. Her kids are much older now, so she can afford to work more.
