Melissa Viviane Jefferson, professionally called Lizzo, is a great singer, and one of the champions on anti-bullying on social media, especially against plus-sized women and celebrities all over the world. However, this doesn’t mean that the singer does not get her fair share of trolling in other subject matters on social media.
Recently, the American singer pulled on the tail of the Tiger(s), when she weighed in on who should be regarded as the ‘Queen of Pop.’ This argument has been ongoing online for days, and it seems like Lizzo’s thoughts may have given fans a reason to place their focus elsewhere for a while. It’s unfortunate that the singer had to be at the receiving end of a fanbase that’s out for blood and nothing else.
When it comes to the title ‘Queen of Pop,’ several female musicians have assumed or been identified with it, however, it all boils down to opinions, thought processes, and preference. Lizzo’s option may have been accurate to an extent, but fans who preferred another star would understandably be pissed off.
Despite the chaos on social media, that’s now fuelled thanks to Lizzo, one thing is for sure— every female musician out there, is beautiful and talented in their respective ways, and we appreciate them for taking the music industry to great heights.

What Did Lizzo Say?
On Sunday, August 29, 2021, a ranking discussion sparked up online, and it saw social media users arguing amongst themselves who the true ‘King & Queen of Pop’ is (both dead and alive.) While many agreed on the male role for the late Michael Jackson, there was a bit of commotion when it came to the female side.
While some argued that the title should be given to none other than the “La Isla Bonita” singer, Madonna, others, including Lizzo had contrasting thoughts.
Lizzo did not support the notion that Madonna should be called ‘Queen of Pop,’ rather, she insisted that the title should go to Michael Jackson’s sister, Janet Jackson. Although many online users agreed with these thoughts, Lizzo seemed to make Madonna’s fans mad with her opinion.
in what universe is Janet Jackson the queen of pop while Madonna exists? pic.twitter.com/F6xCLQLYmR

They instantly came for the “Truth Hurts” singer, saying that she had no idea what she was talking about, and made the wrong choice, which they believe was disrespectful to Madonna. Did Lizzo speak her truth, or is she just moving with the popular opinion? Who knows.
Madonna’s Fans Slam Lizzo
Lizzo may have said what she said, but that doesn’t mean Madonna’s fans were willing to back off. At that point, the singer’s name became a heated topic on the trend table, as fans tried to educate her on her ‘wrong’ choice.
They noted that Madonna has long been acclaimed as the ‘Queen of Pop’ because of her incredible and almost unbeatable career prowess. Furthermore, these users schooled Lizzo saying that the “Hung Up” singer has done so much in the pop music region over the years.
In conclusion, Madonna’s fans noted that her presence and contribution to the pop world made it one of the best music genres there is in the world, and as such, she continues to champion this role, despite being in the industry for decades.

It’s applaudable that fans are standing up for Madonna this way, even if it’s against another iconic singer, however, the truth is that everyone, even celebrities is entitled to their opinions. So, while Lizzo may appreciate the enthusiasm, SHE SAID WHAT SHE SAID!
Lizzo Tries To Make Peace
When celebrities do not share thought processes with fans, there is always the likelihood of getting dragged or even canceled, so while it’s important that famous people speak their minds, it’s also necessary to try to come out unscathed.
Hours in the backlash against Lizzo courtesy of Madonna’s fans, the former reached out online again with a sort of peace offering or statement. Shockingly, this may have pleased online users.
She pointed out that the music industry is expanding every day, and with this, several new stars and acts are coming up, and will most likely take over from the present stars. So, whether she sees Janet as the present ‘Queen of Pop’ or not, someone else is prepping to take over from her soon.
We commend Lizzo for not being afraid to speak her mind, for fear of what fans would say, and the backlash she would receive. The singer continues to pull off daring acts that her fans love to see.
Other Pop Stars According To Lizzo
While the ‘Queen of Pop’ category sparked a widespread backlash, other pop stars categories that Lizzo mentioned did not wreak havoc online. Thankfully.
King of Pop- Michael Jackson
Queen of Pop- Janet Jackson
Prince of pop- Bieber
Princess of Pop- Britney Spears
The Pop princess- Rihanna
Queen of music- Beyonce https://t.co/98Zq8ZOH25

According to the singer, Britney Spears should be regarded as the ‘Princess of Pop,” while Rihanna should be ‘The Pop Princess’ while Justin Bieber is the ‘Prince of Pop.’
Furthermore, Lizzo said Beyoncé is unarguably the ‘Queen of Music,’ whatever kind of music that is. For Usher, he’s seen as the ‘King of R&B,’ Aretha Franklin, the ‘Queen of Soul,’ Mariah Carey, the ‘Queen of R&B,’ Tina Turner, the ‘Rock and Roll’ goddess, and finally, Mary J Blige has crowned the Queen of ‘Hip-Hop/Soul.’
So, where does Madonna fall on Lizzo’s list of Kings, Queens, Princes, and Princess’? That’s a million-dollar question right there.
