Iggy Azalea's Makeup Line Inspired By 'Teenage Years' Bringing Back Y2K Beauty Trends

Iggy Azalea has debuted her first-ever makeup line with BH Cosmetics further making that slip away from music and into "other ventures." The “Sip It” rapper sat down exclusively with PEOPLE to talk about the line she calls Totally Plastic, the "Work" rapper describes it as being inspired by the “It girls” of the early 2000s. “I loved Pink when I was a little girl, because she was so tomboy and she had the cool hair,” gushed Iggy. “I loved Destiny's Child, all three of the girls, obsessed. Christina Aguilera, of course, Britney. She's an icon forever,” notes the rapper. She also named Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton as part of that list.
‘Plastic Universe’
Iggy shared that she was “obsessed” with creating this line and making it “perfect” the vibe she was going for was that “plastic” look the one that dominated the late 90s and early 2000s. "I want to continue a legacy of creating fantasy and escapism for people to enjoy," pointing out that her line is made up of things that she would wear herself in addition to it being vegan and cruelty-free. "I just made myself the cool girl stuff that I would've wanted when I was that age and that, quite frankly, I still want now at 31, I have to admit." The rapper also sneak peaked her makeup line on her social media pages earlier this week.
‘Giving Spice Girl Vibes’
The 31-year-old posted a picture of her and a few other girls in classic early 2000 looks while sitting on one of those inflatable chairs that were essential and co-signed by the likes of Mandy Moore in her earliy 2000s “Candy” video and of course, the Pepto Bismol pink was high-key Barbie girl vibes. Iggy and her girls looked more like little sister Skipper and her pals. In the second post, she teased that the line would be dropping on August 29. “Totally plastic…Totally 2000s…Totally iconic! My makeup collection drops online & in store on Aug 29th! And you know since I designed it this thing is full of cute 00s vibes your gonna gaggg!!!! @bhcosmetics & @ultabeauty I am ready!” Fans showed love to Iggy's new venture with one excited fan feeling as though they were "giving spice girl vibes" in the colorful post.

Her ‘New Baby’
The “Fancy” rapper has been fighting for more creative control over her projects. Her first step was to finish up her latest album End Of An Era. She recently boasted about having the “most fun” working on this project because her voice was heard. She then dropped a fragrance with plans to release companion fragrances in the future. The makeup line that she is currently calling her “new baby”, not to be confused with her real son, Onyx, 1, a breath of fresh air sharing that it reminds her of creating merchandise. “All these other elements to music that are visual that I am so deeply in love with and have so much fun with, really, I was able to implement in makeup in a way that I felt was so fun and nostalgic to me."

Hard Work Pays Off
The entrepreneur is surprisingly loving the process of making something that is her own even if it can be tough at times. “I wanted to be so immersed in that world,” said the rapper excitedly. “I enjoyed it so much, and I think that people will see that I really was passionate, and quite frankly psychotic, about this makeup line.”
