'Real Housewives Of Miami' Alexia Echevarria's Mom Dies On Her Wedding Day After Covid Battle

Alexia Echevarria is mourning the loss of her mother on what was supposed to be her wedding day. The star of the newly rebooted Real Housewives of Miami planned on marrying her fiancé Todd Nepola on Wednesday but instead, she spent the day saying goodbye to her mother. "Early this morning, I lost my mom to the horrible and deadly COVID-19," shared the star in an emotional Instagram post. "The last couple of days have been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I was on the road to marry the man of my dreams when I had to stop everything as my mother became ill,” she shared.

‘A Woman Of Strength And Beauty’
The 54-year-old continued, “what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life today has turned out to be the saddest.” The mom of two described her mother Nancy as a “was a woman of strength and beauty.” The reality star notes how much she admired her mother who was a Psychiatrist that featured on a few episodes prior to its indefinite hiatus. “Over the years I watched how she lived her life, HER WAY. My mother was the kind of woman that was respected, admired, inspirational and so ahead of her times. She was a trailblazer in so many aspects of life.”

‘RHOM’
Echevarria was one of the original cast members of the RHOM but in season two after a horrible accident involving her youngest son, she opted for a friend of the show role. She returned to a full-time role in the third and final season. However, she has kept up a great presence on social media and will be returning for the upcoming long-awaited fourth season. Fans were initially fascinated with Echevarria because she was known as the “Cuban Barbie” however, the reality star had a few skeletons in her closet. The father of her sons was not her then-current husband Herman Echevarria but former drug runner Pedro Rosello. Still, It was hard to not love the Cuban bombshell especially after she got candid with fans about the details. She later went on to share that story on the new Netflix documentary Cocaine Cowboys.

Her Mom Was Her Backbone Through Hard Times
The reality star noted that it was her mother who got through the hard times and aftershock of that marriage. But Nancy knows a thing or two about pulling yourself up by the bootstraps. “A political refugee from Cuba, who put herself through medical school in the 1960s. Raised three children on her own with the help of my grandmother. A feminist and liberal with her social views.” Echevarria painfully admitted that no amount of tears can express her pain. “To say I will miss you does no justice for what I feel.” The reality star shared a series of photos of her mother at several stages in her life.

Brvolebrites Showing Support
Echevarria was inundated with support and love from fellow followers, friends, family, and Bravo celebrities like Shahs Of Sunset Mercedes Javid who lost her own father Shams a few years ago and painfully grieved his loss on the show and still to this day as she experiences new life highs and lows. Fellow RHOM OG Larsa Pippen also sent her blessings to Echevarria. Marysol Patton, also of RHOM fame wrote “I love you, Nancy & Elsa Forever,” referencing her own mother and RHOM fan-favorite Mama Elsa who was a whole vibe and has since passed on as well.
