Eric Stonestreet is a funny man, and he’s showing his incredible sense of humor through his recent Instagram post!
As fans know, the Modern Family star recently got engaged with his girlfriend, Lindsay Schweitzer. While the couple received positive messages, some social media users pointed out that the latter looked so young to be Eric’s wife.

On Wednesday night, the actor shared a hilarious Instagram update poking fun at critics who have said he looks “too old” to be engaged to his fiancée after sharing the news earlier this week that Lindsay said “yes” to his marriage proposal.
Eric reshared the photos from their engagement announcement, but with a twist. He edited his longtime love’s appearance by adding wrinkles that made her look significantly older.
“Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49-year-old man, to be engaged to my almost 42-year-old fiancée,” Eric captioned the post. “Look, she can’t help that she looks so great at 42, and I can’t help that I apparently look like her grandad so, I fixed it for everyone.”
Engaged After Five Years Together
The comedian was being his usual funny self when he shared on Sunday that he had proposed to Lindsay after more than five years of dating.
“She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people,'” Eric wrote alongside a trio of photos showing off the engagement ring.
Eric, being an actor, portrayed three different emotions in the series, while Lindsay was all smiles as the pair posed for photos sitting at a table together.
Celebrity Friends React
The couple received plenty of gushing messages from their famous friends following the announcement, including Hillary Scott, Zachary Levi, Michael Bublé, Will Sasso, Vernon Davis, and Bethenny Frankel, who wrote “YES.”
“F*CK YEAHHHHHH!!!!!! You finally wifed up the QUEEN!!!! Love you both! Congrats!” fellow Modern Family star, Ariel Winter, commented
“Yeah!!!! Congrats!” Kate Hudson added.
For the new update, Eric received over 300,000 likes and 5,000-plus comments. It also earned dozens of reactions from followers.
“Oh dear Lord. You are too much. Praise God she gets you!” wrote a follower.
“Congrats! That ring is as big as Bill Snyder Family Stadium,” said another.
“You are both perfect the way you are. I love the way you both look and most important. LOVE EACH OTHER. Who cares what people think. Congratulations!! Wishing you both endless blessings and beautiful memories together,” penned a third commenter.
In a report by People, the two-time Emmy-winning actor started dating the pediatric nurse way back in 2017 after meeting at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City a year before.
Since then, Eric has been sharing pictures of them together and even solo shots of his wife-to-be. On her birthday last September, the actor gushed over his lady love and posted a short clip of her wearing a sequined top and dark jeans while shaking her shoulders.
“It’s this glittery shining star’s birthday today. Let her feel the love that Instagram is capable of. She certainly deserves it,” he wrote.
