Lorde Goes Down Memory Lane
When Lorde’s album came out in 2013, many people had no idea what to expect from the singer, but one thing is sure, if the album did not meet expectations, it wouldn’t have gained the audience it did. So, in a way, the singer had something promising to offer the world, but is that how she feels now? Not really!
Recently, the songwriter opened up about her true feelings regarding the first album she ever made, and to sum it up, she thinks it was from a place of ‘cluelessness.’
Not many 15 year olds know what they are doing, when they are doing it, and what the consequences would be later on, but they do it anyway. For Lorde, this was her state of mind when she decided to release that album. She explained that the entire album was a mixture of ‘cluelessness and toughness.’ Definitely, she had to be fierce to construct such a fierce album.
The singer went on to admit that when she recently listened to the album, she felt that her feeling of invincibility drove her. It was an exciting time for her to be able to do her things at the pace she wanted, and the freedom to go about her life the way she wanted.
“… It was kind of exotic to be on your own and doing your own thing,” she said.
Lorde Says She Was A Touch Teenager
When child-stars are introduced into the real world, things can go from zero to a hundred very quickly, and it would take a very tough soul to be able to survive the ordeal. This doesn’t necessarily mean that a child that’s not tough will be overwhelmed, but there have been cases where child stars had to develop a kind of thickness to be able to survive the non-static industry.
Lorde chipped in that as a 15 years old girl from the North Shore, she was living her life, and doing the things she wanted when she wanted to, but all these were possible because she was a touch teenager.
At that age, her life was already unfolding, and rapidly at that, it was exhausting, but she pressed on despite the challenges she had to endure. She recalled the numerous times she went into strangers cars, waited at bus stops in the dead of the night, while listening to music through her headphone of course.
These were a necessity in her life because she was trying to make something of herself, but she also faced it head on, and she could only do that as a tough kid.
Lorde Says Her Songs Take Time To Sink In
Lorde came into the music industry with a style of music, and despite her thoughts and the choices around her, she doesn’t intend to change anything about her. However, that does not mean she does not notice everything about her sounds, and how the world receives it.
According to the “Tennis Court” singer, her music is the kind that will take years to build up in the hearts of people, before its beauty can be finally recognized. She then noted that she’s content with the pace she is going right now, as the goodies attached to her unique sound will find its way to her someday.
“… I think about it a lot. It’s not always going to happen right at the time. I feel like my music is a little bit like that. Sometimes, it takes a couple of years for people to be like ‘Oh, okay. Yes, yes.’ And I love that,” she noted.
The Right Moment
When it comes to music and the music industry, there’s no right or wrong moment for stars to get the recognition that they deserve from putting so much energy and hard work into their sounds. It can happen in a jiffy, and it can take years. Lorde knows this, and she’s content with the love and dedication she is receiving from fans now.
Sometime ago, she opened up on why she thinks her music-box will not be chart-worthy. She shared on Friday, August 20, 2021 that her eco-friendly music box will be available for fans.
The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the singer is limiting herself in many ways by either going off the music space for longs stretches, and not paying attention to her social media appearance. In response to this assumption, Lorde simply said she is not bothered about anything, and would not put such pressure on herself.
