50 Cent has always been characterized as a tough man. It turns out though that very early in life he had to get help from his mom to deal with life on the streets. When we are saying very early in life, we really mean very early in life! 50 recently shared a story about how his mother would help him make weapons to be able to fight other kids off on the street. All of this was going on when he was 6 to 8 years old!
Why So Young?
How do we know that 50 Cent was so young when all of this was going on? Well, sadly his mom passed away in a house fire when he was just 8 years old. Therefore, this story about his mom helping him make weapons was something that was going on when he was around 7 years old. He remembered his mother in a recent interview though, saying,
“She was my mom and my dad, and she was tough, so I didn’t know when it was OK to be emotional and when it wasn’t,”
Coming Home Crying & Losing Fights Wasn’t An Option
Since his mom was so tough, Fifty knew that he couldn’t come home all beat up and crying. Luckily he got a little help from here though. He recalls that his mother would help him stuff toys into socks to be able to create “weapons”. That way he could defend himself better out there. There’s actually a scene in his new show, Power Book III: Raising Kanan where a similar instance happens. He mentioned the instance,
“[There’s a scene where] Kanan gets beat up, and he goes back in the house and his mother puts the toys in the socks, that really happened; that was from my life.”

No Time To Be Sad
Other than teaching him how to defend himself, Fifty’s mom also didn’t let him get too down on himself. As we mentioned, crying was not an option. That rule didn’t only apply to coming home after being in a fight. That was a general rule for his mother. On his upbringing, he mentions,
“She was my mom and my dad and she was tough so I didn’t know when it was OK to be emotional and when it wasn’t,” he added. “She would look at me on the floor [when he was upset] and say, ‘Get up — what you over there crying for acting like a little girl [for].’
More & More Business Ventures
With how much Mr. Curtis Jackson has going on, it’s hard to believe that he’s only 6 years removed from filing for bankruptcy. He’s producing around 3 different series simultaneously. Including the drama For Life, where he also has an acting role. At the same time, there are rumors that he’s planning to drop a new album next month. The information on that front though has been few and far between to this point!
