Dolly Parton has engaged the spotlight for more than two decades, and at the beginning, many wondered who her lovely husband was, that kept supporting and cheering for her in the background. Due to the exposure and work schedule that musicians are exposed to in the industry, it's quite difficult for them to keep up with their personal lives.

However, from what fans have experienced in the last 20 years, it is safe to say that Parton and her husband, Carl Dean have beaten many odds when it comes to mixing celebrity life and relationships.

Recently, the "Jolene" singer expressed her thoughts on how it living two separate lives, has been for her since her music career skyrocketed in the early 70s. Parton bared her thoughts to Cosmopolitan and Playboy Magazine about why she always felt the need to keep these two aspects of her life separate from one another. The singer also spoke about her supportive husband, and why he was one of the main reasons why her career thrived to what it is today. Dolly Parton Doesn't Mix Business With Pleasure

In 1979, Parton had a conversation about her marriage with an interviewer with Cosmopolitan named Laura Cunningham. During the interview, the "9 to 5" singer opened up that she had only fallen in love with one man, Dean.

Furthermore, she expressed that her partner is witty, fun, and good-looking, which is one of the few qualities that attracted her to him. Still discussing her marriage, she went on to say that she fell in love with him when she was 18 years, and knew that he would be the love of her life.

Nevertheless, the singer got candid saying that although she loved Dean very much, she could never bring herself to mix up her marriage with her professional life. It just wasn't something she had ever done or did, despite the length of their relationship.

Finally, she mentioned that Dean knows that her personal and work life is separate from one another, so, he doesn't even expect her to bring her work into their personal space and lives. At that time, the singer fessed that her husband had only seen her perform once.

Spending Time Apart Helped Her Marriage

For many couples in the world, especially now in the 21st century, spending time together as lovers strengthens bonds, and keeps the love alive. While this has worked for several people in the past and present, it was not something Parton attempted in her relationship at all.

The nature of Parton's job or career requires her to be on the road most times, going from country to country, especially during tours, hosting interviews, and all sorts. The "Coat Of Many Colors" singer opened up about her lifestyle and how it was healthy for her and Dean to spend time apart from one another.

She noted that one of the things that attracted her to her husband was that he allowed her to be free and be her own person. Dean gave the 10-time Grammy Award winner the space she needed to express herself and build her career. According to Parton, it was and will always be one of the reasons they led a 'healthy' relationship for 53 years.

"I think it's healthy for us to spend time apart. And I don't get jealous. it never crosses my mind, and if he does something, I never want to know," she said.

Carl Dean's Support Through The Years

Parton is a successful and established musician that has given the music industry so much beauty for years now, but behind this incredible woman, is a supportive, reserved, and caring man who has always strived for her excellence while in the shadows.
