Selena Gomez Hints On Quitting Music

The 29-year-old singer was recently featured on the cover of Elle's September 2021  issue that's out now, and in it, she spoke about her life as a whole— from her music to her sickness, experiences with online bullies, and many more. In essence, the "Lose You To Love Me" singer bared her mind and soul in the magazine.

Gomez opened up about wanting to do more with her life, which may or may not necessarily have anything to do with music. She wrote that she wants to do more because when she finally decides to leave for good, she wants the world to remember her for something tangible.

Furthermore, the Texas-born former actress stated that in whatever she does, she strives to make something good come out of it, and if that's not the case, then she doesn't want to attempt it.

"... I'm not going to do it. I don't need money, I need people who want to fight with me," she wrote.

Despite the fact that she would one day decide to leave her career behind and focus on more prospective things in her life, there's one thing that the musician said she will never get tired of.

Selena Gomez Will Not Stop Making Music

There are many ways to make music, and again, it doesn't necessarily have to involve putting yourself out there. However, for now, Gomez knows that she's doing a lot for her musical career, and is putting her best foot forward no matter what happens.

In her column on Elle Magazine, the singer was clear when she noted that she will never stop making music, no matter what she has to go through. For now, she's doing the best that she can, and not necessarily because she is looking for a Grammy Award.

Instead, the singer believes that her music is all about her, and it does not have to explain anything else besides her. To her, this personalized way of seeing her sounds makes it difficult for her to 'pour herself out.' Either way, she wants to continue doing the best that she can, making the music that she wants, and pouring herself out to the world, no matter how hurtful it seems.

Selena Gomez Talks Career Challenges

In the music industry, celebrities are often advised to guard their mental health the best way they can because when it goes unchecked for a long time, it can lead to devastating experiences that fans have seen over the years, including from Gomez.

Detailing her struggles in her field, the "Same Old Love" singer expressed herself by stating that her mental health issues, kidney transplant, Lupus disease, chemotherapy, and emotional issues stemming from a publicized heartbreak, were all aspects of her life that should have brought her down. Should being the keyword there.

Sadly, she got to a place where she positioned her state of mind to react to new challenges quickly by telling herself "What else am I going to have to deal with." Gomez further revealed that despite the hurt and pain she experienced for years, she taught herself to always move forward because she was helping people.

No doubt, Gomez became an inspiration to millions of fans, who may or may not have walked in her shoes at some point, even without being famous. The musician said that these uplifting thoughts helped her continue in her music journey, despite not being strong enough to handle it.

Social Media Hiatus In 2017

In 2017, the heat was too much on Gomez, and to ease her mind for a while, she decided to take a break from her social media platforms and handed over the password to her assistant. In other words, she was on social media, but she wasn't at the same time.

The singer fessed that in the past, she would obsessively look through people's feeds, and go down almost two years before she realized that she had no idea who the person was. It was almost an impulse that she could not control.

This, coupled with the fact that she was constantly trolled online, made the decision to take a break more desirable to her. Since she made this decision, although it wasn't a smooth ride at first, the singer soon became used to it.

Now, according to her, she gets gifts the right way that involves her friends coming directly to her to tell her about something new in their lives, and not asking her if she saw their posts online.
