Kanye West has been dubbed a musical genius but how could he have almost missed the opportunity to work with Chance The Rapper? In an interview with the Recording Academy, the "Hot Shower" rapper revealed that he nearly didn’t make the cut for West’s Life Of Pablo album. The rapper had to have a “back and forth” with West to get his verse on “Ultralight Beam”. “I rapped on Kanye’s s**t right before it came out that I was working on these three Grammys, and I was like, ‘If I keep rapping like that, and just saying, s ***s gonna happen, that’s just gonna happen.’ And it started happening.” Chance is talking about the power of manifesting but apparently, West’s third eye was blocked at the time.

The rapper was unwilling to change his lyrics because… that’s just how he raps so instead, he invested his time in trying to convince the “Runaway” rapper to take a risk. “Kanye didn’t want me to say that on that song. And I had to go back and forth with him about keeping my line on there.” That being said, the rapper is also a huge fan of West and may not have been as willing t fight for the line much longer. “Just being in a position to rap [with] the person who probably is the reason I became a rapper—to be able to produce and write and to be featured on the intro, the first real rap verse you hear on the album, was crazy to me.”

Chance has made it no secret that West has been an inspiration to him for some time now. He is talented enough to be in Yeezy’s presence and he claims to owe that to “speaking it into existence”. “'Kanye gonna hit us up soon. You gonna be working with ‘Ye soon.’ And when that happened, quipped the rapper who claimed his belief in those words brought it to fruition. “I had to keep doing that. I had to keep being like, ‘I’m gonna just say what’s gonna happen.”

It’s easy to see that whatever Chance The Rapper did, worked because he had the pleasure of being one of the few celebrities who stuffed themselves into the quarters that West has been occupying while he works on his upcoming album DONDA at the Mercedes Benz Theatre. The 28-year-old has not revealed if he will be featured on West’s new release but he is apart of the G.O.O.D. Music family so it would not come as a surprise to anyone.

If the 28-year-old father of two does have the opportunity to be on DONDA will he be able to top his flow on “Ultralight Beam”? the same verse that West was hesitant to leak ended up being flowing over the beat like melted butter and how do you top that? As for DONDA, the album has been pushed a couple of times now but fans are still hoping for an August release.
