Nick Cannon Feels DaBaby Shouldn't Be Canceled After Homophobic Rant

Nick Cannon is the latest celebrity who feels rap star DaBaby shouldn’t be canceled after a fiercely charged homophobic rant.

Miley Cyrus recently spoke out about DaBaby’s rant saying that she wants to talk with him and see how they can learn from one another.

She posted the following message on August 4.

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness. The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture,” Miley wrote.

“But I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication & connection. It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds,” she continued. “There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!”

The Blast previously reported on DaBaby’s rant during his set at the Rolling Loud Music Festival late last month.

After attempting to apologize for his words and actions, his set at Lollapalooza was canceled and he was replaced.

Then one day after the Lollapalooza news, he was dropped from Governors Ball on September 24.

“Founders Entertainment does not and will not tolerate hate or discrimination of any kind,” the festival wrote in a message posted to Twitter. “We welcome and celebrate the diverse communities that make New York City the greatest city in the world. Thank you to the fans who continue to speak up for what is right. Along with you, we will continue to use our platform for good.”

He’s continuing to get dropped from other festivals and performances in the wake of his homophobic rant.

Cannon is now speaking out about why he shouldn’t be canceled.

The TV star, who has also faced near cancelation after making anti-Semitic remarks on his “Cannon’s Class podcast, recently appeared on “The Breakfast Club.” 

“First of all, I think not only in the black community — and I’ve experienced it — but definitely just men a lot of times, we have that ego. We believe apologizing is weakness when it actually takes great strength to step up to anyone and say, ‘I was wrong,'” the father-of-seven said.

Cannon did admit DaBaby’s comments were unwarranted and feels he could endure a period of “growth” following the entire situation.

“I know Baby. And that’s a strong brother… That man just lost his pops, his brother, all the things that he [has been through] and still to have that big smile that he has every day, knowing everything that he comes [from]?” Cannon said. “He a fighter. We’ve seen his back against the wall. He’s swinging. He’s swinging just so he could get out. We all have to accept emotion.”

The “Wild N’ Out” host challenged everyone who wants to cancel somebody, and more specifically DaBaby, to use this moment as an opportunity for education.

“I challenge all these people who actually want to cancel somebody, and even specifically in DaBaby’s situation, let’s use this as an opportunity for education,” Cannon said.

He continued, “If I’m saying these things about the LGBTQIA community, show me where I’m wrong,” he said. “Not only is that going to help me, but you’re going to help so many other people who think like me. There are so many DaBabys out there.”

Cannon also feels DaBaby shouldn’t be dropped from festivals calling it “mob rule.”

“This is a moment where we should all gather around DaBaby and embrace him because if we can do that, watch how many mentalities will change in the hip-hop community,” Cannon said.
