Normani Says She Was Overlooked In Fifth Harmony: 'I Didn't Really Sing In The Group'

Normani was a part of one of the biggest girl groups of the 2010s, and after years of being told to ‘blend in’ and being disregarded, she is playing by her own set of rules.
The former Fifth Harmony member has made a name for herself since the girl group disbanded in 2018.
With collaborations like “Waves” and “Dancing With A Stranger” and her 2019 single, “Motivation,” Normani has proven she is better off flying solo!
The singer has been candid about her time in the girl group, and it wasn’t as great as interviews and red carpets made it appear.
Before going solo!
One of her bandmates was problematic with past racist tweets coming to light, she became a target for racist Internet trolls and was told to blend in during her time in Fifth Harmony.
Normani explained to the outlet that she often felt overlooked while in 5H.
“I didn’t get to really sing in the group. I felt like I was overlooked,” Normani says. “That idea has been projected on me. Like, this is your place.”
Well, the singer and dancer has created her own place, rather, SPACE! She is prepped and ready to whatever the hell she wants whenever the hell she wants.
Here Comes Normani!
“Yes, I can throw ass. But I can also give you a proper eight-count, and I can do ballet, and I can do contemporary dance,” she noted. “If I want to sing this pop ballad, then you’re going to love it! While you see my Black face!”
She attributes her work ethic, which is something she learned from her parents at a very young age, for her resilience and success.
“When I show up, I’m ready,” she says. “You can’t point the finger at me.”
I think many fans were pointing fingers, in a good way, at Normani after she dropped her sizzling and highly sexualized music video for “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B.

The two joined forces once again on the track.
It’s the first song to be released from Normani’s forthcoming album and let’s just say there is a whole of booty, skin and suggestive positions.
Normani had a dance cameo in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wap.”
“She’s a real one,” Normani says of Cardi B.
