Daniel Radcliffe said that for years he wasn’t exactly a huge fan of the Harry Potter series when he came across the movies on TV. He was particularly critical of his own performance as “the boy who lived”. While he admitted that he enjoyed the scenes where his former cast members were on center stage. Recently, Radcliffe was asked which other characters he would’ve liked to play in the series. He wouldn’t necessarily take the lead role!
Who His Picks Are
Radcliffe had an appearance on the “Happy Sad, Confused” podcast with his co-stars from “Miracle Workers”. A historical comedy on TBS. As is expected when Radcliffe gives an interview, he just can’t escape the Harry Potter questions. This time around, he was asked what characters he would like to play if there’s ever a reboot of the franchise. Naturally, he couldn’t pick his original character. Now at 32 it’s kind of hard to pass as an 11 year old boy! Radcliffe though mentioned, he’d like to play Remus Lupin or Sirius Black.
Why These Two
Daniel then went on to defend his picks. Giving a little bit of insight into what went on behind the scenes. That essentially lead him to be heavily impacted by the performances of Gary Oldman and David Thewlis. Whose performances he praised on the podcast. It’s safe to say that he picked some top-notch actors. He mentioned,
“And also like, I’m obviously biased by my experience of filming those scenes, with those people, and they’re like some of my favorite memories.”
Harry Potter On The Oregon Trail
There’s no question that Daniel Radcliffe has made an effort to distance himself from his Harry Potter character. At least when it comes to the type of roles that he takes on these days. He’s currently doing the third season of Miracle Workers. As we mentioned, the show is about the Oregon Trail, but it’s actually a comedy series. In which Radcliffe plays Reverend Ezekiel Brown. A reverend actually isn’t too far from a wizard in some people’s minds! However, it is one of the few times we’ve gotten a chance to explore Daniel Radcliffe’s comedic side.
Is There A Potter Reboot In Development?
Now that it’s been brought up, there have been rumors that some type of Harry Potter series was in development. We’re not going to get to see Daniel Radcliffe as Sirius Black any time soon, though. Both Warner Brothers and HBO Max, the streaming platform that currently streams Harry Potter movies have denied that a series is in the works. That doesn’t necessarily mean that no Potter-related content could be out soon. There have been talks about expanding the Harry Potter theater presence. After the success of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Play!
