“Game Of Thrones” star Kit Harington recently opened up about his stay in a treatment center after the award-winning show ended.

HBO’s smash hit, ‘GOT,’ ran for eight seasons with the final season airing in 2019. The series was gruesome, sexy and demanding: physically, mentally and emotionally.

Harington, who starred as the series protagonist, Jon Snow, checked himself into a treatment facility after the show wrapped for good.

He revealed on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle” show it was imperative for himself to get help.

Harington checked into a wellness retreat two years with his rep telling E! News he was attending a program in Connecticut to "work on some personal issues."

He revealed on the ‘Jess Cagle’ show that he went through some mental health difficulties which led him to treatment.

"I went through kind of some mental health difficulties after Thrones and during the end of Thrones, to be honest," he told the show’s host. "It was directly to do with the nature of the show and what I've been doing for years."

After eight intense years of filming, Harington took the time off to reflect on his next move.

The actor admitted, "I said, 'I don't want to work for a year. I want to really kind of concentrate on myself.' I'm really happy I did that."

Right as he was ready to “get back on the saddle,” the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the entire world went into lockdown.

"Just when I was wanting to come back to work, the pandemic hit. So I was like, 'Oh, for god's sake,'" he said.

While the show and pandemic took a toll mentally, Harington admits he is grateful for what the past two years have brought him.

Not only did ‘GOT’ allow him to solidify his place as a serious actor in Hollywood, but it also introduced him to his wife, Rose Leslie. And, the pandemic allowed for the couple to have some extra “snuggles” in bed which led to the creation of their first child together.

Leslie and Harington welcomed a baby boy in February.

"I had a quite profound and amazing experience during this last year and a half," he expressed. "Of course, it was anxiety-inducing and strange and odd. And I didn't see my friends and family. But on the whole, my friends and family are all healthy. I'm now a father. Like, on the whole, I had quite a very lucky experience."

In addition to finding his wife and welcoming his first child, ‘GOT’ also introduced Harington to a lot of his close friends.

“I still have very, very good friends from that show. It did nothing but wonders for me,” Harington said.
