Shaye Mitchell may be living life in the fast lane, but she is in NO rush to get married.
Mitchell has been dating Matte Babel since 2017 and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Atlas, in 2019.
Despite their full-fledged life together, Mitchell recently sat down with E! News’ Justin Sylvester to spill the tea on her relationship!
In an exclusive interview with “Daily Pop,” the “Pretty Little Liars” alum revealed that marriage is not in the cards, at least not right now.
“I don’t know if I’ve done anything in order,” she joked. “I didn’t get married before a child. I had a child, didn’t get married. I don’t really know if that’s in the cards of us. I think we both agree, maybe it’s just me.”
There is a reason Mitchell loves the idea of never getting married.
“There’s no pressure here,” she explained. “I love it. I love the fact that we come home and every day I’m like, ‘I choose you and you choose me.’ It keeps us on our toes. I’m like, ‘Hey, I can walk out. I don’t need to go through a lawyer, I can just walk out.’ And same with him. It keeps it sexy.”
Despite marriage possibly never being in the cards for Mitchell and Babel, the two are going strong and raising their little lady Atlas.
“It’s fun, it’s so much fun,” Mitchell gushed. “She’s almost two and it’s so great. I think every single day, I’m like, it’s only getting better. Then it will come the terrible two’s of what I’ve heard, and I’ll be like, ‘Go back to being a little toddler!'”
So, are more babies on the horizon for Mitchell and Babel? Possibly!
The ‘PLL’ actress revealed the quarantine baby craze has her thinking of baby no. 2.
“Damn, I might as well do it again if we’re going to go back in there (quarantine),” she said. “I feel so unproductive from last pandemic. I should have had a baby! I don’t know, I’d love to.”
Mitchell received a lot of criticism after giving birth to Atlas. In an interview with Women’s Health in 2021, the “You” actress opened up about not being motivated to be active and exercise after giving birth.
After getting into a routine and partnering with the Openfit app, Mitchell shared a side-by-side photo of herself before and after the program.
Some said she was criticizing people for being overweight or ungrateful for her post-baby body.
“Right after I had Atlas, if I ever made a comment about how I didn’t feel like myself, people were like, ‘Well, you just had a baby.’ Yeah, I know I just had a baby,” she told the outlet. “I’m very grateful for my body, and that it gave life, but I’m still allowed to express that I don’t feel like myself.”
“I was strong before I had Atlas, and I wanted to feel that way after,” she continues. “We celebrate our bodies before we’re pregnant; we celebrate our bodies with bumps. We should also celebrate our bodies at whatever point we feel our best again.”
