It’s 2021 and TV shows are still making jokes about Selena Gomez’s 2017 kidney transplant.
When will they learn?!?
The latest TV show to make jokes at the expense of SelGo’s health is “The Good Fight.”
Now, if you’re asking yourself, ‘Didn’t a TV show already make a joke about Selena’s transplant and get in major s***?’, you are asking yourself the correct question.
Back in November 2020, the “Saved By The Bell” reboot did exactly this and it did not go over well with fans, like AT ALL!
The Blast exclusively reported on Selena’s kidney transplant in 2017. Gomez received the organ during the summer from actress and friend Francia Raísa after it was determined she was a successful match.

The singer revealed in 2015 she has been suffering from complications of Lupus, a disease that attacks your organs.
SelGo successfully recovered from the surgery and has been going full-steam ahead ever since.
However, she has been reminded of the difficult surgery from shows like ‘SBTB’ and now ‘TGF.’
Both references in the “Saved By The Bell” reboot were made in the sixth episode of the series, titled “Teen-Line”, which included one scene where two students were talking in the hallway with graffiti on the walls behind them that read, “Does Selena Gomez even have kidneys?”
Misinformation about Selena’s kidney donor was also addressed in another scene between two cast members who argued over who her donor actually was.
Saved by the Bell, that’s disgusting. Selena almost lost her life, jokes about her kidney transplant is NOT FUNNY. Respect Selena Gomez. pic.twitter.com/c8AZbsU1m0

So, while this whole shtick on Selena’s health has already been-there-done-that, ‘TGF’ just couldn’t seem to help itself.
In season five, episode four the conversation of comedy and cancel culture comes up during a scene where a comedy streaming executive (Del) asks another character (Liz) to conduct a sensitivity read on one of his comedians.
While discussing what is off limits in comedy, they go through a list of topics that include necrophilia, autism and Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant.

This is when Selenators across the globe got “Respect Selena Gomez” to trend on Twitter.
One fan came to Sel’s defense tweeting, “this woman deserves all the love and happiness, it’s so sad how people use a hurtful moment for her just for nasty jokes, put some respect on her name. Respect Selena Gomez.”
“The kidney transplant was a life-threatening situation and I don’t understand how it could ever cross someone’s mind to make fun of it. Respect Selena Gomez,” another upset fan wrote.
This fan pointed how multiple shows have profited off of Sel’s transplant writing, “THREE different shows have made jokes about Selena’s transplant, it’s just so god**** disrespectful and her and Francia don’t deserve any of this. Respect Selena Gomez.”
The Selenators have spoken! It’s time to stop making light of Selena’s kidney transplant.
