Heidi Klum is a German-American model and television host, and a popular judge on the music talent show, “America’s Got Talent.”
The business mogul became a part of AGT from seasons 8 to 13, as well as the show’s championship season. Sadly, in 2019, it was announced that another judge would take Klum’s place on the panel.
Through the years, Klum has seen some amazing acts on the AGT stage, and some of them earned her golden buzzer. While the model appears approachable, sweet, and kind, she takes her work seriously, and would never give out the golden buzzer unless she was absolutely compelled to do so.
She is often described as one of AGT’s best judges, who uses compassion and kindness to help contestants who feel out of place, or are overwhelmed with emotions on stage. Compared to Simon Cowell’s sharp tongue, Klum is the mama bear that gives the best cuddles after a frightening experience like being on the AGT stage.
Below are detailed accounts of four times Klum was compelled to hit her golden buzzer. Stay tuned.
Sal Valentinetti
He is a popular Italian-American artist, who came on the AGT stage in season 11, and met Klum as one of the judges seated close to the audience.
When he came on the stage, he appeared overly confident and showed off his masculine that almost did not sit well with Cowell. During the introduction phase, Howie Mandel asked if he had a girlfriend, and he explicitly said; “Heidi Klum, how you doing?” which she replied to saying “Hey, how you doing?”
His persona was a comic relief for the audience, before he proceeded to sing what he described as his way of having fun. He gave a rendition of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, and though the tune was solemn and mild, he was able to capture Heidi’s attention with every sound.
At the end of his performance, the four judges and the crowd were on their feat clapping, and Klum ran to the stage to give him a hug, which was of course followed by her golden buzzer.
Makayla Philips
During AGT’s 13th season, 15 years old Makayla Philips came on stage to sing a cover of Demi Lovato’s “Warrior” song.
Her introduction was handled by former Spice Girls member, Mel B, and from what fans could see, Philips was super excited to be on the AGT stage. However, the judges needed to see her in a serious light to be able to give ideal feedbacks.
The 15-year-old swept the audience off their feet with her voice, poise, and confidence on the stage. It did not take long for the audience to engulf the room with screams of excitement coupled with applauses. When Philips’ song came to an end, Klum was the only judge on her feet, clapping and smiling.
During her assessment, Klum said she loved everything about the contestant, especially how she carried herself on stage, and this was followed by her golden buzzer.
Angelina Jordan
In 2014, Angelina Jordan was one of the contestants for “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” season two edition.
When Jordan came on stage, Klum recognized her as the winner of “Norway’s Got Talent” in 2014. She was seven years old at the time. at first, Jordan said on stage that she waited ten years to finally sing for Simon Cowell, whom she described as a legend, but little did she know that she would walk away with a golden buzzer from Klum.
The contestant sang a live cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” that sent shivers down the judges and audience’s spines. The dark room lit up with flashlights from the audience, who waved from side to side while listening to Jordan.
During the assessments, Klum could not keep still, as she was aching to hit the golden buzzer.
Christina Rae
AGT season 15 was undoubtedly one of the best seasons of the show, and one of the reasons for that is millions of fans worldwide got to heart a single mom, Christina Rae sing her heart out on the talent show stage.
Rae first came on the stage looking beautiful and sightly tensed, and she told a story of how she was pregnant and homeless a few years back. When Mandel asked her what the dream was? She simply said that she wants to give her son a home and not a house.
She kicked things off with her version of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight,” and while she was doing an incredible job, Cowell stopped her halfway. He asked her to go with her second song, as the first was not good enough. Although the crowd disagreed with his notion, Rae was determined to do her very best. When Cowell asked her if she wanted some water before she starts, she answered saying; “I’m gonna let this adrenaline take me.”
Her second song was a cover of “Gimme Shelter” by Rolling Stone, and it literally blew the roof off the building.
“I think you are absolutely out of this world, my heart is racing for you right now. Are you ready for this right now?” Klum asked as she stood up and fiercely hit the golden buzzer.
