Aces vs Sparks

The Las Vegas Aces were back at “The House” on Saturday evening after a four-game road stretch. The coast-to-coast matchups tested their resilience, and they came home with four wins, but Saturday’s game at Michelob ULTRA Arena against the Los Angeles Sparks didn’t go exactly as they hoped.

Before tip-off, the Aces took a moment to celebrate greatness by raising their 2025 championship banner in front of a roaring home crowd. The ceremony honored last season’s dominance, resilience, and legacy, setting the tone for the 2026 season. To make it even more special, this game was their 50th consecutive sellout.

The 2025 championship banner went up, but sadly, the chips didn’t fall the Aces’ way on Saturday night. Fresh off a four-game heater, the Aces fell short to the Sparks on their home court, 101-95.

A’ja Wilson led the Aces with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Chennedy Carter had 23 points and NaLyssa Smith, 22 points and 9 rebounds.

Kelsey Plum, once an Aces player and now on the Sparks, had a season-high 38 points.

Aces head coach Becky Hammon said the Sparks were “just too comfortable from the jump” during the postgame press conference. Later in the presser, she summed up the rough game saying, “We had multiple players with 20-plus, we should win the game. So it just tells you the job wasn’t getting done on the defensive end.”

Banner Raising Ceremony Kicked Off The Night

Saturday’s game started off with the banner-raising ceremony. This special pregame moment honors the Aces’ 2025 title run, officially lifting their championship banner into the rafters in front of a packed home crowd.

With the banner lifted high and the energy electric inside the arena, it was more than just a celebration – it was a reminder that the standard in Las Vegas is championship-level.

To celebrate the banner raising ceremony, the first 7,500 fans through the doors received a replica WNBA championship banner and an Aces-branded clear bag.

A’ja Wilson Keeps Raising The Bar And Rewriting The Record Books

After powering the Las Vegas Aces to a 4-1 start, reigning M’VP A’ja Wilson added yet another milestone to her resume, earning her 29th career Western Conference Player of the Week honor, the second most in WNBA history.

She averaged 25 points per game, second in the league, over the stretch, while also contributing 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 blocks per outing. She now trails only Tina Charles, who holds the all-time mark with 33 weekly awards.

In Connecticut on May 15, Wilson became the first person in WNBA history to record multiple 45-point games. Previously, she tied the league single-game record of 53 points against Atlanta on August 22, 2023.

And with the season just getting started, there’s likely many more records to break and accolades to add to the list for Wilson in the near future.
