The former journalist and wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos opted out of extravagant fashion displays at the NYC event on Monday, flaunting her figure in a flared gown that fans felt was totally inappropriate for the fashion extravaganza. Lauren, who was the victim of slamming ahead of her red carpet appearance as she and husband Jeff faced backlash for their influence over the event, was told she looked like she’d shopped at Temu by one fan.

The businesswoman, who married husband Jeff in a high-profile wedding in Venice last summer, opted for a corseted bodice and straps made of pearls and crystals, rocking slight cap sleeves thanks to an off-the-shoulder finish.

Offering a massive cleavage flash while the rest of the celebrity crowd opted for more modest looks, Lauren wowed while braless, flaunting her hourglass figure while in high heels. Adding heavy makeup with plenty of blush and contour, Lauren flaunted her massive pout while sporting a defined brow, wearing her dark hair down as she showed off diamond jewelry.
Fans weren’t too impressed as Lauren’s look was posted by Just Jared on Instagram. Noting the 2026 Met Gala’s “Costume Art” theme and its “Fashion is Art” dress code, one fan proved popular by saying: “Buying your way into the event and industry, and then ignoring the theme is crazy.”

Lauren Sanchez has opened up about her efforts to look a little more snatched ahead of the Met Gala. Speaking to Vogue, she revealed: “I went to visit the New York Fire Department and did their training,” adding: “It’s probably the most unique Met prep ever. It was bananas, but I loved it. I probably lost about two pounds doing it.”
Both Lauren and Jeff have fallen under fire for landing themselves an honorary co-chair title, with their names going viral before anyone stepped onto the red carpet.
