Sarah Ferguson has certainly cemented herself as one of the most controversial figures in the modern history of the Royal Family. It’s then no surprise that she offered her help to the producers of the hit show The Crown! The show offers a fictionalized recollection of the life of the royals. Who better to help tell those stories than someone who was actually in the Palace!
The Producers Turned Down The Offer
In a recent interview, Fergie was clear that she totally offered to help with the show. Especially when it came to the recreation of her character on it. She mentioned that she wrote to Andy Harries, an executive producer of The Crown. The offer though was declined by the producers of the show. Fergie did not specify if she got a reply with a decline or if the request was just simply ignored altogether. The producers of the show have been criticized by British politicians, who have urged the show to put up a disclaimer portraying it as a drama and not a real-life recollection. If they had accepted Fergie’s help Buckingham Palace may be stepped in to stop the collaboration anyway!
She Does Watch The Show
We know for sure though that Fergie does watch The Crown. As do some of the other members of her immediate family. At the end of the fourth season of the show she told Us Weekly,
“I thought it was filmed beautifully. The cinematography was excellent,” while also adding, “I loved the way they put my wedding in as well,”
At the time, her daughter Princess Eugene also weighed in on the show. Accepting the fact that she watched the show. She mentioned,
“It is filmed beautifully. The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful,” she went on to add, “You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”
Is Fergie Going To Be On The Show?
One of the things that Sarah Ferguson still wants to know though is why her character hasn’t gotten much air time on the show. As she mentioned, the show did “cover” her wedding to Prince Andrew. However, it certainly wasn’t one of the pivotal moments in the storyline. Her character has seen virtually non-existent development to this point in the story. That may be set to change in season 5, though, as her character could be tied into the fall out of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship on the show. Sorry for the spoilers, but they are hard to avoid with historical dramas!
What About The Real-Life Prince Andrew?
Fergie actually currently lives virtually alongside her ex, Prince Andrew. The couple has always maintained a close relationship despite their breakup amidst the whole toe-sucking scandal. The Queen essentially let Fergie live on her property so that she wouldn’t have to be selling royal secrets for a living. That’s Prince Harry’s gig now! About Prince Andrew, though, he’s had limited public appearances since the death of Prince Philip. He’s probably set to remain in the shadows after we found out about his sketchy friends.
