There comes a point in life when you just can’t party like you used to without paying the consequences the next day. Singer Lorde, found this out the hard way after being a part of the first “Day Drinking” installment of Seth Meyers’ Late Night Show post-pandemic.
The two did the segment a couple of days before Lorde actually went on the late-night show. She was brutally honest about how she’d had a rough time dealing with the hangover from filming the drinking segment.
They Got Hammered
To say that the two “got hammered” when filming this segment may be an understatement. At one point, Seth can’t even hide from the camera the fact that he’s having some trouble talking! This is when you realize that those are the takes that actually made it onto the show. Think of the ones that didn’t! If we want to look on the bright side, though, it looks like the two had a good time. Probably can’t remember most of the segment. Luckily, they had a whole crew taping it for them!
The Next Day
The day Lorde actually went on the show with Seth, he directly asked her how she felt after their day drinking escapades. Lorde was not ashamed to say that she needed a little extra help to get herself out of bed! She detailed,
“You did kind of destroy me. And I had to get a very popstar thing, an IV drip came to my hotel and administered fluids to my corpse.”
She also added that she couldn’t look at an alcoholic drink ever again! That day drinking bit really must be wild off camera.
He Had Trouble Saying Her Name
If you ever wondered why the “Royals” singer went by Lorde and not her real name, it may be because drunk people like Seth Meyers may have had too much of a hard time saying it. Her real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor. That’s certainly a tougher name to remember than Lorde. Seth Meyers had a rough go when trying to pronounce it. Was it just the booze, or is the name really that hard to say? We may have to do a bit of a social experiment to find out.
Lorde Killed It On Stephen Colbert
Singer Lorde is making the rounds across different Late Night shows to promote her music. Seth Meyers confessed that he was very nervous for her when she saw her on Stephen Colbert’s show the night after the two had gone out drinking. Meyers mentioned,
“I watched that very nervous that I had somehow taken you out so late that you would not perform well but you were wonderful on that show,”
That IV she got the day after drinking with Meyers worked wonders. She should pass on the recipe!
