Over the years, celebrities have taken it on themselves to stop hiding in the shadows, and show everyone, especially their fans who they truly are. Through this, they have inspired other people to speak their truths, and not worry about how they will be perceived in the long run.

For many decades, the LGBTQ+ community has been plagued with silence, and more people are caring more about what others will say about them, than about how they truly feel. Luckily, this will not go on for too long, as with every waking moment, more people are seeing the benefits of speaking their truth.

Recently, a renowned actress and star of "13 Reasons Why," series, named Tommy Dorfman disclosed her true identity to her fans, and they could not be more proud of her.

Coming Out Or Not!

During a recent discussion with "TIME," the star said she "has been privately identifying and living as a woman, a trans woman."

Furthermore, she noted how the term 'coming out' sounded hilarious to her because she had never swayed from this path. In her explanation, she revealed that she is simply reintroducing herself as a woman, and that nothing has really changed on her part

In addition, the actress said that people often view coming out as something that should be grand, but that does not apply to her as she has never been hidden. However, she went on to clarify the appropriate pronouns that  should be used when addressing her.

"Today is about clarity; I am a trans woman, my pronouns are she & her. My name is Tommy," she concluded.

About Tommy Dorfman

Dorfman is popular for playing the role of a character named Shaver, in the series "13 Reasons Why," which kicked off in 2017. She was born to a Jewish family on May 13, 1992 in Atlanta Georgia, U.S. After earning a theatre arts degree from Fordham University, she landed the 'Shaver' role.

Dorfman also took a keen interest in fashion for a short period, when she assisted ASOS to design a fashion collection. For her incredible talent and hard work in the industry, GLAAD awarded the 29-year-old with the 2017 Rising Star Award.

She is married to Peter Zurkuhlen, the Chief of Staff of an organization called Get Help.

Synopsis Of '13 Reasons Why'

The series which premiered in 2017, is an American teen drama developed by Brian Yorkey. The series, which is now a Netflix original, is based on a novel with a similar title by author, Jay Asher.

The drama centers on a High School student, Hannah Baker, who decided to commit suicide, but left behind a box of clues that leads to the people who influenced her decision. This series brings to the limelight, several social issues that affects young people in the 21st century, and how some of them choose to deal with it.

Some of the executive producers of the series include singer, Selena Gomez, Diana Son, Steve Golin, and many more. The show received some appraisals as well as positive criticisms from movie analysts, who termed it as a clear picture of the real world.
