According to new reports, Rihanna's home shooter was once placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold. The news came via her ex-husband's attorney, Hal Roen, who noted that Ortiz was "Baker Acted" in Florida, meaning she was held against her will under state law.

Roen painted Ortiz as manipulative to TMZ, describing her as "articulate" and "very believable" despite her mental health issues. "If you sit down with her, she's very convincing. But she does bizarre things," he said, referencing Ortiz's attack on Rihanna's home.

A Florida judge also cited Ortiz's mental state in April 2024 during a custody battle with her ex-husband, Jed Nikko Valdez Sangalang. The court documents obtained by the outlet stated that the legal umpire awarded Sangalang full physical custody of his child with Ortiz.

Ortiz had tried to clear her name in court, admitting that she was Baker Acted, but argued that it was based on false allegations. Nonetheless, the judge highlighted the "concerning testimony" about her mental health and stripped Ortiz of all contact with her child.

The order stopped her from having any in-person, phone, video, text, email, or third-party communication with her child until further order from the court. The judge also noted that Ortiz had requested a domestic violence injunction against her ex-husband, but had once been arrested for domestic violence.

The incident led to Ortiz being on probation at the time of the custody battle. Additionally, the judge explained in the custody ruling that the court feared Ortiz might not return the child to the father, hence the removal of her rights to the child.

Before shooting at Rihanna's home, Ortiz had repeatedly called out the singer on her social media platforms. In a January 5 post on her YouTube channel, Ortiz held a Praying Woman's Journal and used it to rebuke Rihanna's influence.

Ortiz repeatedly described Rihanna as "corny" and "stupid," implying that there was a spiritual warfare happening and people needed to avoid the singer's negative influence. The bizarre comments continued, with Ortiz later accusing Rihanna of aiming for her life.

"Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut the f-ck up. Okay, shut the f-ck up," Ortiz yelled, looking away from the camera as though seeing some other force in the room. "Yeah, she's a witch. She's a witch. I'm a watchman. She's a witch," she continued, still pointing at something beyond the camera.

Besides her YouTube rants, Ortiz took shots at Rihanna on Facebook. The Blast covered the story, reporting that she dropped concerning posts about the entertainer weeks before pulling up to her house with an assault rifle.

In a February 23 post, Ortiz alleged Rihanna had AIDS and claimed the Savag X Fenty founder was talking about her behind her back. She echoed similar sentiments in a February 17 post, alleging Drake was aware Rihanna had AIDS.

Rihanna wasn't the only celebrity Ortiz had beef with, as she once called Kim Kardashian a "stupid b-tch" and claimed Cardi B was too scared to face her. Outside social media, Ortiz once attempted to get a Billie Eilish concert at the Kia Center cancelled by filing an emergency petition.

The new details about Ortiz's life follow her arrest and subsequent booking on an attempted murder charge. The Blast shared that her bail was set at $10,225,000, while reports described Ortiz as a 35-year-old woman from Florida.

The motive behind the attack on Rihanna's home has not been revealed, as the investigation remains ongoing. Sources noted that the Los Angeles police responded to the shooting call around 1:21 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood.

Ortiz was reportedly taken into police custody about 30 minutes after the 911 call came in, with an LAPD source revealing that the authorities found "an assault rifle and seven casings" inside her car. The gun was described as an AR-15-style weapon.
