Robert Cosby Was Arrested And Released From Jail Just Weeks Before He Died

Robert was released from jail weeks before his death. During the "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" season 6 reunion, Mary spoke with host Andy Cohen about her son's legal woes.

"I’m not worried about him," she said. "I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m OK with it."

"It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good,” Mary continued. "And I’d rather him be there than dead, you know?"

Mary explained that she was unable to visit Robert while he was in jail, calling the situation "weird."

"I don't want to look at my child behind a glass," she said. "He calls me every day. I'm basically preaching to him. I'm like, 'You're going through this, but you have to realize that if God is allowing it, and if God allowed it, then it's for your good. This will help you to change, and you gotta change.'"

Robert Gave An Update During Earlier Episode Of 'RHOSLC'

"I'm not in that dark place, but, like, it's still there, if that makes sense," he told her on camera. "I just didn't expect it to be like this. ... You have to change who you are as a person. Like, you're so used to doing something you do every day, and it’s a ritual. And then, you just come back home to where you used to do that ritual, and you're not doing it anymore."

Cynthia Bailey Was 'Paralyzed' After Learning Of Robert's Death

In an early March episode of her "Humble Brag" podcast, Cynthia Bailey shared that she was "paralyzed" by Robert's death.

"It's so hard to talk about this," she told her co-host, Crystal Kung Minkoff. "I was really paralyzed by this news when I got it, and I didn't really know what to do, what to say."

Bailey, who stars on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," added that she spoke with Mary by phone after the news became public to send her condolences.

While Bailey said Mary seemed OK during their conversation, she acknowledged that everyone processes grief differently.

"I think there’s levels, there’s shock, there’s just processing the reality of the situation," she said. "I know I’m doing a horrible job of trying to explain this to you guys, but I just don’t know any other way to do it. I just wanted to recognize that we are all supporting Mary Cosby and her family. This was a huge hit for the Bravo universe. She’s such a big part of it."
