Reese and Reebok have been building something special since joining forces in October 2023.
Just days before her WNBA debut, Reese explained why she chose to partner with Reebok, a brand in its rebuilding phase, compared to another major name like Nike.
"So many different shoe companies wanted to work with me. But I chose Reebok," she said. "What was it about Reebok? One, they don’t have a women’s basketball player [as] a face. So I wanted to be that."
Reese explained that her relationship with LSU alum and former Los Angeles Lakers player Shaquille O'Neal also played a role in her decision to sign with the company.
"And three, I like how they’re rebranding everything and they’re letting me be the creator behind everything I want to do. So I’m having my own shoe line coming out, merch with my name on it. … Y’all like what I wear, y’all like how I dress, y’all like my style. I wanted to incorporate that into Reebok," she added.
Shaq Encouraged Reese To Sign With Reebok
During a 2025 interview on "The Pivot" podcast, Shaq, President of Basketball at Reebok, also shed light on how he convinced the Bayou Barbie to sign with the Boston-based sneaker company.
Shaq stated that he was initially eyeing other names, such as Shai Gilgeous Alexander, to join his growing roster of talent, but after learning the OKC star's team wanted $60 million, he had to make an important decision.
That's when Shaq and the rest of the Reebok team went all in on Reese.
"And then I said, let me make a power call real quick. 'Angel, you want to go with Nike where they're just gonna give you a regular shoe. Or do you want to deal with a motherfu-ker that will give you your own shoe?" Shaq said.
"'You know you're the sh-t. You need your own shoe.' 'For real, you can do that?' 'Yeah, I can do that.' So signing Angel was my (doing)," Shaq added.
Reese Was Emotional After Learning Her Brother, Julian, Would Make His NBA Debut

Reese is also making headlines over her recent comments about her brother, Julian Reese, following his NBA debut with the Washington Wizards on March 2, 2026.
After stating that the University of Maryland alum would bring "passion" to the court and team, Reese admitted she was beside herself after learning the 6'9" player signed a 2-way contract with the team.
"I'm really happy for him," she said. "I was so emotional when I found out, I was crying so hard like I just hit the lottery."
