Less than two months ago, a former NBA star made headlines after he was arrested in the early hours of the morning for also driving under the influence. The two-time NBA champion, Lamar Odom, was arrested and booked in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 17, 2026.

The former Lakers star was also slammed with two more violations, reported as driving more than 41 MPH over the limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane.

This arrest marked the second DUI for Odom; the first one was thirteen years ago and also took place shortly before dawn. Unlike Odom, Brooks has no previous arrest. His pristine criminal record gets its first taint with the recent DUI charges.

Inside Dillon Brooks' Drama With His Previous Partner

Last year, Brooks had to air some of his dirty laundry outside relating to his relationship with the mother of his two children, Heather Andrews. Andrews reportedly threatened the player's life and safety; therefore, he filed a Temporary Restraining Order against her.

The court documents show that the NBA star alleged that Andrews hacked into his social media accounts, destroyed his property, and threatened to ruin his basketball career.

He claimed that she would send him up to a hundred messages if he were not attentive to his phone. Brooks also alleged that his baby mama goes as far as reaching him via burner phones to get his attention.

The Daily Mail reported that part of the text message screenshots included in the file, which Brooks alleged were sent by Andrews, read:

"I'll have someone cut each one of your f-cking little fingers off one by one. So you can never play basketball, LOL. And actually, now I understand why people are racist."

The Suns hooper also claimed she extended the threats to his family, particularly his mom, and told him he was at risk in his home.

When Andrew found out her ex was dating another woman, she allegedly vandalized his house in Memphis, cursing at him. Andrews had also gotten a TRO against Brooks previously, claiming he had threatened her.

What will be the outcome of Dillon Brooks' DUI case?
