Britney Spears' recent DUI arrest is pushing her supporters against the wall.
The "Free Britney" movement pulled thousands of supporters online and in real time, as voices were raised in chants for her freedom a few years ago. With the recent developments and news about her reported erratic behavior, previous supporters are now wiggling in their seats.
Britney Spears' mental health state has been in question for a while, as she has made headlines for living in isolation amid other questionable things. This has raised concern from fans, friends, and family.
Was The End Of Britney Spears Conservatorship A Mistake?

This question has circled the heart of many in light of her most recent run-in with the authorities. A former supporter of the "Free Britney" movement shares her regret for publicly giving her voice for the cause. She shares her regrets, contributing enthusiastically to getting the singer out of her conservatorship.
The former advocate, named Jessica, who uses the handle "realiteatv3" on TikTok, spoke to TMZ during the livestream show on Thursday, sharing her thoughts on the movement she once pioneered.
When asked how she felt about the "Womanizer" singer's recent DUI arrest, Jesicca explained her regret, adding that Spears has been up to some dangerous stunts on her socials.
Jessica previously shared on her Tiktok that she felt the "Free Britney" movement did more harm than good, adding that evidently the singer needs conservatorship. Still, she thinks it's best if her family and friends are not put in charge of it.
The former advocate noted that her stance tilted as she had been watching Spears' scary videos, citing one where the singer danced around with a pair of knives.
The Singer Was In Handcuffs On Wednessday Night

The California Highway Patrol arrested Spears around 9:30 PM, and she was booked by the sheriff's department around 3 AM the following morning. She was released from jail around 6 AM after a hospital visit, according to inmate records.
She was taken to the hospital for bloodwork to determine her blood alcohol content, which tells the level of her intoxication. According to reports, the singer has been telling people in her orbit she blew a .06 percent BAC, which is below the legal limit in California.
However, she could still be charged with a DUI if she was driving recklessly, and it was revealed that the authorities pulled her over because she was spotted swerving her vehicle in and out of traffic.
A source familiar with the investigation also noted that an unknown substance was in Britney's car at the time of her arrest. The charges will be presented before a judge on the scheduled court date, May 4, 2026.
Inside The 'Free Britney' Movement

In January 2020, protesters took to the streets, marching to the front of the courthouse, where a hearing was held on Spears' conservatorship case.
The online community also chanted the "Free Britney" message on Twitter (now X) worldwide, creating a trend as #FreeBritney was used on the platform almost 100,000 times before the end of the hearing.
Many supporters showed up for the singer, stating why they were on her side. They stressed that the conservatorship had held her back professionally and personally for over a decade at the time.
Others stated that the downsides of the arrangement were a total loss of control over her life. "She's not allowed to drive her car, see her kids, make phone calls, visit people unsupervised, or see her kids," they penned.
As shared by The Blast, Spears' legal counsel revealed that the iconic hitmaker was not against being under a personal conservatorship. This raised some opposition to the movement, which stated that since Spears is comfortable with the arrangement, there is no need for chaos.
Others pointed out that her mental health was not at its best, and the conservatorship was simply running its course.
The Aftermath Of The Conservatorship Dissolution

After Spears was taken off conservatorship and her freedom restored, it was reported that she was allegedly struggling with mental health issues. Instead of seeking professional help, she reportedly chose to live in isolation and deal with her challenges alone.
The Blast shared that insiders confirmed that the singer decided to isolate herself in her Los Angeles home and is accompanied only by hired help on the rare occasions she ventures out in public. They also noted that she has no real friends and is only around her staff if ever she has people in her space.
According to the reports, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer's conservatorship came to an end without a proper care plan in place, or an itinerary to manage her freedom, which would have helped prevent her from spiraling out of control. Ultimately, they questioned if it was the right decision in the first place.
Friends and family members were also worried for her health after she posted a clip with dog poop left unattended on the floor, followed by others with her in very revealing clothes.
Britney Spears Reportedly Let Go of Her Sober Coaches Before DUI

Weeks before the DUI arrest, Spears fired her sobriety coaches, along with other people who were looking out for her well-being and safety. The dismissal of her sober coaches and security guards came shortly after she signed a deal selling the rights to her music.
TMZ reports that she also took a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, before returning to her California home and showing her staff out the door. Her team is reportedly trying to restructure her things while figuring out a way forward with the latest developments.
Spears allegedly has a lot of internal trouble. Sources confirmed that she mostly just dances around naked all day wherever she is, talks to herself, and is apparently living in her own world.
