Britney Spears' family is concerned for her and hopes her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence serves as a "wake-up call."

The pop singer, who was once placed under a conservatorship after suffering a breakdown, has made headlines in recent times for her erratic behavior on social media.

Britney Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline, with whom she shares her sons, also expressed worries about her in his memoir, saying she is racing "toward something irreversible."

Following Britney Spears' arrest for driving under the influence Wednesday night, sources close to the pop star's family have expressed concern for her, revealing that her loved ones want her to get help.

"I hope this is a wake-up call for her," a family source told Us Weekly.

The "Criminal" singer was arrested near her home in Ventura County, California, around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and later booked into the Ventura County jail at about 3:00 am on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

According to the news outlet, she was released at 6:07 am that morning and is set appear in court on May 4, according to the sheriff's office.

Dispatch Audio Details Moment Before The Singer's Arrest

According to Page Six, a dispatch audio before Spears's arrest revealed she was swerving "in and out" of lanes in her black BMW.

"Black BMW sedan in and out of lanes… speeding," the dispatch audio stated. "2026 convertible out of LA."

"Can we send all units down towards this area, please?" an officer asked in the audio, as authorities were heard following the vehicle and detailing the exact location.

"This is a 2026 black BMW convertible," the officer updated the units, as a cop then says he has pulled the BMW over.

"Talking with the driver," another officer said. "Driver is out of the vehicle."

According to the news outlet, authorities then requested a DRE, which is an officer qualified to identify a driver who's impaired. Moments later, they requested an 11-85, which is police code for vehicle towing.

A rep for the singer also confirmed to Us Weekly that her family is taking her arrest very seriously and hopes that she turns over a new leaf henceforth.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," the rep noted. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."

They added, "Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

The Singer's Sons Will Be 'Spending Time With Her' As Her Family Comes Up With A 'Plan'

Amid the sad situation, the source said that she'll still have her sons, Sean Preston, and Jayden James with her soon, and they'll all be spending time together.

"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being," the rep added.

After her arrest, the "Toxic" singer was taken to the hospital, where she had her blood drawn to determine her blood alcohol content, per TMZ.

The outlet reported she has been "telling people [her BAC] was .06," which is lower than California's limit of .08 percent. However, one can still face arrest and be charged with driving under the influence if driving erratically.

Amid her troubled behavior, Spears's ex-husband Kevin Federline expressed concerns for her "survival" in his recent memoir You Thought You Knew.

"The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it's racing toward something irreversible," he wrote. "It's become impossible to pretend everything's OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we're getting close to the eleventh hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don't change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces."

In the book, he also alleges that she exhibited erratic behavior, including using drugs while breastfeeding and holding a knife while watching their sons sleep. He further claims she had substance abuse issues during pregnancy and that her behavior was threatening to their children.

However, she has since hit back at his claims, calling his depiction of her "extremely hurtful and exhausting."

"The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting," she wrote on X at the time. "I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys."
