Jeffrey Epstein's crimes continue to haunt him even in death.

The convicted sex offender's New Mexico mansion has surfaced in the news for allegedly harboring several dead bodies from his time at the sprawling property. However, it now has a new owner.

Earlier in the year, the Department of Justice released over three million documents, including emails, photos, and internal investigation records related to Jeffrey Epstein and his network.

Indeed, the convicted felon's name has surfaced in the news since the beginning of 2026, and now, attention has shifted to his New Mexico mansion, which has stayed under the radar for years now.

According to sources, state officials have developed a renewed interest in the property due to rumors that dead bodies are buried on the site.

Epstein acquired the 30,000-square-foot estate known as the Zorro Ranch in 1993 from the family of former New Mexico Governor Bruce King as an indication of Epstein's admiration of the state due to its obscurity and the lenient sex offender registry laws.

Nearly 10 years ago, in 2019, when Epstein died, an anonymous tip from a former worker at the ranch alleged that Epstein ordered that the dead bodies of two abused girls be buried in the hills outside the ranch.

It is still unclear if the FBI ever explored the anonymous tip as part of its 2019 search, per The New York Times.

Since the interest of state leaders piqued about the property, Andrea Romero, a New Mexico state representative from Santa Fe, has taken over the case.

In his statement to the news outlet, Romero established that the mission now is to find out how Epstein was able to operate without any accountability and who, what, allowed him to carry on as he wished for such a long time.

The new owner of the property, identified as Don Huffines, a former Texas senator, is also on board with the mission and vows to cooperate with the authorities. However, he is reportedly yet to be contacted by anyone about gaining access to the property.

Back in February, Huffines affirmed that his ownership of the property was not hidden, and he has always maintained an open line of communication with law enforcement about any concerns about the property due to its history.

After a law mandating the release of his previously withheld files last year, the Department of Justice began to release documents in batches for the public to view. The records in the files were, however, heavily redacted, but internet users found a way around the contents contained in the files.

As reported by The Blast, the unredacted texts began circulating, including a previously redacted portion of an exhibit in a civil case in the U.S. Virgin Islands between the government and Darren K. Indyke and Richard D. Kahn, who served as executors of the late sex offender's estate.

Another portion of the redacted documents also showed allegations that the convicted sex offender attempted to conceal his criminal sex trafficking and abuse by paying out large sums of money to participant witnesses.

The document noted that Epstein often threatened to harm his victims to keep them from telling their sex trafficking and abuse stories. Epstein also reportedly helped release damaging stories about victims unwilling to keep quiet as a way to stay ahead of the curve and make their story less credible when they speak up.

The Late Felon Denied Ever Mentioning Suicide In An Old Interview

While he was found dead in his jail room, Epstein seemingly threw off the scent of him by admitting a month before his death that he would never commit suicide, as he detested pain.

As noted by The Blast, the disgraced financier embarked on a series of tests to prove that his chances of committing suicide were low. Prison notes from his time at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City also showed that Epstein ruled out suicide in life due to his strong Jewish background.

In the note, a possible suicide that happened in 2019 was indicated, although the felon insists he did not have any recollection of such an event due to his sleep apnea.

"Overall, his current protective factors override his risk factors for suicidality. He is currently psychologically stable. He denied feeling hopeless. He is reporting positive plans and reasons to live for," the note stressed. Epstein eventually died on August 10, 2019, hanged in his cell, with his death ruled as a suicide.

In January 2026, Epstein's brother, Mark Epstein, reiterated that he remains convinced about his brother being murdered in jail and made to look like he committed suicide.

Mark expressed his optimism that more autopsy facts will point to the real event that went down, as his injuries did not match the way his body was found hanging in his jail cell.

"There are only three ways to die in prison…Suicide, natural causes, or murder. And Jeff was murdered. I want to know who killed him and on whose behalf?" Mark shared. He added that a cover-up was also at play, which is why the official ruling of Epstein's death was ruled a suicide.

Mark also shared that he submitted a tip to the FBI in 2023 that President Donald Trump silenced Epstein because he was about to mention names and incriminate people.

How will authorities approach the revelation involving Jeffrey Epstein's New Mexico mansion?
