'DWTS' Val Chmerkovskiy Sends 'Apologies To All The Fans' Amid Hospitalization

Val Chmerkovskiy bowed out of the "Dancing With The Stars" live tour show on Sunday night.
The Ukrainian-American professional dancer was forced to cancel his scheduled appearance in Peoria, Illinois, due to health reasons.
The incident marked one of Val Chmerkovskiy's many health scares, including a painful and scary neck injury in 2023.

News of Chmerkovskiy's health issues first broke on the "Dancing With The Stars" tour Instagram page, where a statement announcing his non-appearance was shared. "Hi Peoria - Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen and last-minute illness, Val will not be able to perform in today's show," the message began.
"He is under medical care, and we are wishing him a fast and speedy recovery," it concluded. Chmerkovskiy reposted the message on his Instagram Stories, followed by a picture of him in his hospital bed, wearing a gray sweatshirt and a blue beanie. He captioned the image with his heartfelt regrets.
"My apologies to all the fans that came out to see us today in Peoria," Chmerkovskiy wrote. He went on to thank his fellow castmates for rallying in support before reiterating that he never meant to disappoint fans. "It takes quite literally me not being able to stand on my feet to keep me off that stage," he claimed.
The Professional Dancer Came Down With Vertigo

Chmerkovskiy shed more light on his hospitalization on his Instagram page, sharing a video of himself in his hospital bed. "I've just been having vertigo for the past couple of days," he revealed, explaining that he was able to get through the show on Saturday despite his condition.
Vertigo, per the Cleveland Clinic, is a sensation that the environment around someone is spinning in circles. It makes people feel dizzy and off-balance. Chmerkovskiy noted that after Saturday's show, he ran some tests before hopping back on the bus to continue the tour.
But his symptoms persisted, and he could not get himself together on the bus, leading to his hospitalization. Chmerkovskiy assured fans that he would bounce back in no time, claiming that after resting on Monday, he would return to the stage on Tuesday, March 3.

The health update received thousands of supportive comments from fans, including Chmerkovskiy's wife, Jenna Johnson. She reacted to the post with a crying face and a mending heart emoji. The DWTS tour page hoped Chmerkovskiy would "feel better soon," while TV personality Dylan Efron wrote:
"Feeling for you, Val, Vertigo is awful. Happened to me right before DWTS, but it healed quickly. Rest up and get those crystals aligned."
The love and support continued with one fan resonating with Chmerkovskiy's situation because they lived with vertigo. "Wishing you a speedy recovery, Val!" another supporter penned, with a fellow IG user imploring the dancer to take his time before returning to the stage.
The Two-Time World Latin Dance Champion Experienced A Painful Neck Injury

Chmerkovskiy is no stranger to health scares, as he experienced a painful neck injury in 2023. PEOPLE reported the incident in February 2024, reporting that the dancer had finally reflected on the injury after keeping fans in suspense.
When he first revealed his neck injury in March 2023, Chmerkovskiy did not share what happened but stated that he had “almost lost” his “ability to move.” He delved deeper in 2024, sharing a carousel of videos and photos depicting his recovery journey.
There were shots of his X-rays alongside a picture of a scar and bruising on the front of his neck. Chmerkovskiy still stayed quiet about how he obtained the injury; however, the post confirmed that he had endured a painful road to recovery.
Val Chmerkovskiy Passed A Kidney Stone On A Flight

A year after sharing his painful recovery journey, The Blast reported that Chmerkovskiy had faced another health scare. The incident occurred in April 2025, with the dancer taking fans on a very TMI journey about his kidney stone experience.
He dropped a picture of the kidney stone in an Instagram Story post alongside a hilarious recollection of what happened. According to Chmerkovskiy, the journey to passing the kidney stone began with “a little side/back pain” when he arrived in Spain.
Chmerkovskiy explained that the pain worsened overnight, then became unbearable the next day, so he got it checked out. He was told he had a urinary infection, most likely caused by a kidney stone. Chmerkovskiy eventually excreted the said kidney stone from his body mid-flight on his way home.
