The situation reportedly began in the early hours of the morning in New Orleans’ Faubourg Marigny neighborhood.

Police responded to a disturbance on the 1400 block of Royal Street around 12:45 a.m. after two men claimed they had been assaulted. Authorities alleged that LaBeouf had been creating a disruption at a local business and became increasingly confrontational when staff attempted to remove him from the premises.

According to police accounts, the actor allegedly struck one individual multiple times with closed fists. The confrontation reportedly continued outside, where several people tried to restrain him in hopes he would leave the area. Officials said he later returned and allegedly struck the same victim again before punching another person in the nose.

LaBeouf also opened up about what the experience was like after he was taken into custody, calling it "cute" before describing a crowded and chaotic environment during Mardi Gras. “I went in there, and I was like, ‘Hey, let me get a coffee.’ They were like, ‘Shut up. We don’t give you coffee out here.’”

Despite the circumstances, the actor said the people around him treated him well. “They were all nice to me, bro. I got cold, they gave me a blanket. Nobody was really talking. It was crowded. It was Fat Tuesday, so it was super crowded, and it got more crowded and more crowded,” he explained.

LaBeouf estimated there were dozens of people packed into the holding area. “On Fat Tuesday… there were probably 50 of us,” he said.

He also recalled forming an unexpected connection with another inmate while they waited to be processed. “Yeah, we shared a blanket, because there are 50 of us, so there are only so many blankets,” he said. “Me and this one guy… we talked. He’s a good guy, actually.”

The actor described how the bond formed naturally due to the situation. “The guy I got processed with became sort of a quick buddy. We didn’t talk much, I don’t know much about him, but it was like one fisherman can see another fisherman from far away. We had that kind of connection,” LaBeouf said.

They even shared meals during their time together. “It was quite intimate, actually,” he added.

The newest arrest comes as LaBeouf continues to navigate a complicated past marked by several high-profile legal incidents over the years.

The actor has previously faced arrests tied to disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and altercations in multiple cities, including New York and Georgia. One of his most widely publicized cases occurred in 2017, when he was taken into custody in Savannah for disorderly conduct and obstruction after a confrontation with police. That incident led to probation and mandatory counseling.

LaBeouf has also been involved in civil legal battles, including a lawsuit filed by former partner FKA twigs in 2020, which accused him of abuse, allegations he has denied. At the time, he acknowledged struggling with substance use and later sought treatment.
