Former President Bill Clinton delivered a fiery and deeply personal defense after Hillary Clinton was compelled to testify about Jeffrey Epstein.
In a rare and historic deposition, the 79-year-old lashed out at Republicans, denied any wrongdoing, and insisted his wife should never have been dragged into the controversy that continues to shadow Washington.
Bill Clinton Slams Lawmakers Over Hillary Subpoena

Appearing before lawmakers near his home in Chappaqua, New York, Bill Clinton made clear that he believed his wife’s testimony was unnecessary and unfair.
Before addressing questions about Epstein, he vented his frustration.
“Before we start, I have to get personal. You made Hillary come in. She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing,” Bill said per the Daily Mail. “She has no memory of even meeting him. She neither traveled with him nor visited any of his properties. Whether you subpoenaed 10 people or 10,000, including her was simply not right.”
Hillary had told lawmakers she never met Epstein and had only encountered Ghislaine Maxwell on a few occasions.
After her deposition, she added, “I think the chronology of the connection that he had with Epstein ended several years before anything about Epstein's criminal activities came to light.”
Bill’s anger showed how deeply personal the matter has become, especially as congressional scrutiny intensifies.
Bill Clinton Insists He Saw Nothing Wrong

Under oath, Bill issued a direct denial. “I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” Bill told lawmakers.
He also suggested that many of his responses might echo a phrase that has followed him throughout his political career.
“You’ll often hear me say that I don’t recall. That might be unsatisfying. But I’m not going to say something I’m not sure of,” he continued.
Bill explained the limits of his testimony, stating, “This was all a long time ago. And I am bound by my oath not to speculate, or to guess. This is not merely for my benefit, but because it doesn’t help you for me to play detective 24 years later.”
The deposition comes after newly released Department of Justice files included photographs showing Bill aboard Epstein’s private jet with an unidentified woman and swimming with Maxwell, who is now serving a 20-year federal sentence for sex trafficking minors.
Epstein visited the White House 17 times during Bill’s presidency, and the former president later took 27 known trips on Epstein’s private plane after leaving office.
Bill has maintained that those flights were connected to Clinton Foundation work before Epstein faced criminal charges.
Bill Clinton Addresses His Past And Epstein Ties

In his opening remarks, Bill turned personal, reflecting on his childhood.
“As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals,” he said.
The former POTUS argued that even in hindsight, he saw no warning signs.
“But even with 20/20 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever gave me pause. We are only here because he hid it from everyone so well for so long,” Bill added. “And by the time it came to light with his 2008 guilty plea, I had long stopped associating with him.”
Bill has repeatedly stated that he never visited Epstein’s private Caribbean island, Little St. James, where several accusers say they were trafficked.
Maxwell reportedly told the Justice Department last year that Bill was never there.
In a formal declaration, Bill stated, “I do not recall speaking to Mr. Epstein for more than a decade prior to his 2019 arrest.”
Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
Historic Testimony And Mounting Political Pressure

Bill became the first former president compelled to testify before Congress against his will. He ultimately agreed after lawmakers threatened him with contempt.
Representative James Comer has pledged extensive questioning, claiming that Hillary repeatedly deferred Epstein-related inquiries to her husband.
While Bill faces scrutiny over photos and flight logs, no evidence has emerged implicating either him or Hillary in criminal conduct related to Epstein. Still, Republicans argue that the extent of Bill’s association with Epstein warrants deeper examination.
Democrats counter that the precedent should apply across party lines, including to President Donald Trump, who also had past ties to Epstein.
Ongoing Legal And Political Fallout

The Epstein saga continues to ripple through Washington years after the financier’s death.
Ghislaine Maxwell remains the only co-conspirator ever convicted in connection to Epstein’s crimes.
Bill Clinton and Epstein were associated from the early 1990s into the early 2000s. Bill says he cut ties years before Epstein’s 2006 arrest for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
Hillary Clinton indicated she expected her husband to testify that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s sexual abuse during the period they were acquainted.
As lawmakers press forward, Bill’s testimony marks a dramatic chapter in a case that refuses to fade from public memory. His forceful denials, sharp rebukes of Congress, and repeated insistence that he “saw nothing” signal that the political fallout is far from over.
