Ryan Reynold Says He Was ‘Begging Blake To Sleep With Him’ Years Ago

The ever funny and always open Ryan Reynolds recalled for fans how he landed the love of his life Blake Lively. “I met Blake on the darkest crease in the anus of the universe called Green Lantern,” said Reynolds to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett on their podcast SmartLess. He revealed that he was consistently begging his now wife to sleep with him. “We were friends and buddies and about a year and a half later we went on a double date, but we were with dating separate people.” They always kept in touch and a friendship turned into a marriage and three daughters.

The couple ended up taking a train to Boston together and it kind of sealed the deal. “Next thing you know, she was going to Boston, I was going to Boston and I said, ‘Well, I’ll ride with you,'” recalled the Free Guy actor. “We got on the train and we rode together. I was just begging her to sleep with me.” Reynolds shared that from there the couple's relationship progressed “like a fairytale”. Pretty quickly as well admitting that they basically bought a home together soon after and life took off from there.

Lively and Reynolds had the wedding of their dreams on a plantation in 2012. It was featured in wedding magazines and praised for it’s “classic elegance”. Unfortunately, in 2020 the couple felt obligated to issue an apology for getting married at a site that had a history of hate and slavery. “What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy,” wrote Reynolds in a public statement. He went on to share that they were deeply ashamed of the choice and called the decision “a giant f**king mistake.”

Reynolds nor Lively have not allowed the wedding venue mishap put a black cloud over their marriage. They always try to keep things fun and Reynolds has never been shy when it comes to bragging about his wife in odd ways. They often roast one another on social media with the Deadpool actor opting to post unflattering photos of his wife with sarcastic and sweet captions. The long-time couple share daughters Inez, 4, James, 6, and Betty, 1, together and while they are in the public eye and rely on the press to have a progressive career, they are mighty protective of their daughters. As recently as this week Lively has reiterated that she does not want her girls being photographed and thanked the photographers who respected her wishes.

In 2016, Lively opened up to Marie Clair magazine about her priorities in life. “All my eggs are in one basket, and that’s my family, she shared with the publication. “That’s the thing that I feel most protective of and the thing that I feel is the most exposed when I feel exploited.” Sharing that her family is where her heart is. The couple has been married for eight years that’s basically dog years in Hollywood they admit that humor plays a huge role in their union.
