Mary Cosby Spotlights Robert Cosby Sr.'s Role In Keeping Their Head Above Water

The Bravo star, during a September 2025 episode of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," revealed that her husband has been pivotal in keeping the family grounded while they dealt with the crushing realization of Robert Jr's addiction.

Mary revealed to her castmates that she did not have a support system at the time, and Robert Sr. proved to be very helpful by being there for her and setting her son straight. As noted by PEOPLE, in her words about what went down when Robert Jr. arrived from rehab, Mary shared:

"We had a talk with him, and Robert Sr. told him, 'We cannot babysit you. You have the tools, and you know what you need to do. So, we, like, made a pact that we would take one day at a time, and we're letting him figure it out."

Mary and Robert Sr. became parents to Robert Jr. in 2002, making him their only child, and decided to name him after his father as their purest form of love.

The Mother And Son Bonded Over His Addiction In Emotional 'RHOSLC' Episode

In November 2024, the duo let Bravo fans into their world, giving a close glimpse into Robert Jr.'s life with addiction, when it all started, and how far they have come.

As shared by The Blast, the late Robert Jr. admitted that his addiction began very slowly, with him taking half a pill of Xanax to calm his nerves and Adderall to balance out the effect of the pill.

He recalled being 16 when he began experimenting with the drugs, thinking he would only stick with the natural stuff, only for things to escalate during a visit to his friend's party, where he did Xanax with acid and Molly with Xanax, then mixing it with cocaine.

He also admitted to trying out heroin because he simply wanted to die at the time; however, the thought of his mother kept him alive. Following his arrest last year, Robert Jr.'s lawyer claimed that it was a blessing in disguise for him because it allowed him to sober up and start thinking clearly.

Robert Jr. was arrested in November 2025 for violating a protective order by visiting his estranged wife's home. He was arrested in September 2025 after he was caught trying to enter his ex-wife's residence through a dog door and later attacking her father and a law enforcement officer.

Since his passing, Mary and her family have received an overwhelming amount of support and condolences from the Bravo family, including Andy Cohen, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Wendy Osefo, Shamea Morton, and others.
