Jimmy Kimmel did not wait for the State Of The Union (SOTU) event to settle before taking shots at Donald Trump after his lengthy speech.

The late-night show host offered his take, analyzing some of the matters the President addressed in his SOTU speech, eliciting laughs from his audience. Trump boasted in the speech of the positive changes his administration had effected while in office.

Jimmy Kimmel's roasts of Trump did not just begin; he even lost a longtime friendship over political differences. He recently raised the President's criticism of Peuto Rican singer, Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show, which was delivered fully in Spanish.

Kimmel went live on his show reacting to Trump's lengthy address to the State Of The Union, tagging it an "angry" speech. He said, "The theme of tonight's speech was 'All foreigners are murderers,'" a nod at Trump's comment on reducing the number of illegal immigrants in the country.

The show host also commented on the President's looks, particularly his hair and face. Kimmel, amid audience laughs, said his hair looked like a cloud on top of a sweet potato,"  adding that his "flop sweat and makeup combined to form a frothy, homemade Orange Julius on his face."

Trump delivered his longest speech yet to Congress, lasting almost 2 hours, and addressed the achievements of his administration so far in office. He told the U.S. lawmakers that the "country is winning again" while boasting about how much the economy had improved.

Trump also made claims that items such as gas had become more affordable, and about illegal immigration, as well as ending a series of wars around the world since he came into office. BBC Verify looked into some of his claims, providing clarity and weighing them against reality.

One of the President's statements was, "Their policies created the high prices. Our policies are rapidly ending them," and this has some truth to it. The reviews show that prices are still rising, but the rate of inflation has slowed since Trump took office at the beginning of 2025.

Compared with Joe Biden's administration, when prices spiked significantly, inflation has fallen by more than 3% and is now around 2.4% in the 12 months to January 2026. Trump cited that the prices of some groceries have fallen.

He claimed that the price of beef, which was very high, is starting to come down significantly, but the facts show that prices fell slightly last month and have increased by 15% over the last 12 months to January 2026. Egg prices, on the other hand, have fallen by 34% over the past twelve months.

Trump touted that "More Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country." This statement is correct, but there are more angles to consider.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), more than 158 million people were employed as of January 2026, while the population is also remarkably high at over 342 million.

Furthermore, addressing the issues of illegal immigrants on American soil, the President said, "In the past nine months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted into the United States."

This claim is correct if he was referring to migrants released from custody, once they've crossed into the U.S. Records from Border Patrol show that several thousand illegal crossings still occur monthly.

Still, there has been a huge reduction in apprehensions at the southwest border compared to the previous administration. Trump also claims to have ended eight wars during his first ten months in office, which is not correct.

The White House lists the "wars" as ones between: Israel and Hamas, Pakistan and India, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Serbia and Kosovo. Most of these lasted a few days and stemmed from pre-existing disagreements.

After Trump slammed the rapper's Halftime show performance on social media, calling it uncreative and not meeting the country's entertainment standards, Kimmel responded on his show.

Trump's statement read "Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World."

Kimmel's reaction showed that Trump did not sincerely care about the children viewers, asking how he could be offended by Bad Bunny's show and dancing when he was okay with the Epstein files being released.

The feud has extended into Kimmel's personal life, affecting his relationship with friends, notably Bill Maher. Kimmel's wife, Molly McNeary, confirmed that she also cut ties with friends and family members who supported the president.

The Blast reported that Maher addressed the tension between them while talking with Adam Carolla, who previously co-hosted "The Man Show" with Kimmel, stating that while he does not believe he did anything wrong, he was sorry "it got bent out of shape."
