Fans Say Selena Gomez Deserves Better After Benny Blanco Podcast Drama

Fans were ready to tune in for laughs and celebrity guests when Benny Blanco debuted his new “non-podcast” series this week. Instead, many found themselves zooming in on something completely unexpected: his feet. 

Within moments of the premiere, social media lit up with reactions that had little to do with the show’s format and everything to do with what viewers called a major ick. 

Now, amid the backlash, fans are dragging Selena Gomez into the drama.

On Tuesday, Benny Blanco officially launched his new project, “Friends Keep Secrets,” describing it as something that doesn’t fit neatly into one category. 

The show, co-hosted by Dave Burd, better known as Lil Dicky, and his wife Kristin Batalucco, is filmed inside the couple’s home and promises relaxed conversations with major stars.

However, just minutes into the first episode, viewers weren’t talking about the format. The record producer, donning an orange shirt and brown pants, sat on a gray sofa, chatting with his cohosts about how the new interview should be referred to as a podcast.

Blanco appeared relaxed with his legs stretched out,and the camera did not miss the soles of his bare feet, which were covered in black dirt and dust.

In no time, the video spread across various social media platforms and fans wasted no time in expressing their anger and disgust over Benny Blanco’s dirty feet. 

On X, formerly known as Twitter, many questioned how the Grammy Award winner was able to bag Gomez as his wife. 

“He’s the most disgusting person I’ve ever seen in my life, seriously, it blows my mind that Selena is with this f-cking creature,” one fan wrote.

A second user added, “The fact that his feet are ACTUALLY that filthy makes me sick to my stomach. Like Selena girl what’s going on?”

A third fan commented, “Bro I never wear socks and walk bare feet all the time and my feet are never that dirty,” while a fourth questioned if Blanco walked outside without shoes before sitting on the couch.

Another shared, “He’s a whole superstar with a massive fanbase and still can’t handle hygiene? Fame doesn’t replace manners.”

Many other users advised Gomez to divorce Blanco, considering she had no child for him. 

Some noted that they weren’t surprised and even described the 37-year-old as a “red flag,” pointing to how he embarrasses the singer during interviews.

“Every interview I’ve seen with Benny and Selena, he’s making fun of the fact that she thought they were on a first date and wasn’t. He was nonchalant and didn’t even care. He humiliates her every chance he gets,” one fan stated. 

“Once again, Benny has embarrassed Selena and y’all wonder why I can’t stand his disgusting -ss,” another wrote. 

Other fans noted that Gomez had low self-esteem, adding that she was desperately in need of a ring on her finger. 

The irony is that Benny Blanco had ambitious plans for the series. 

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about the project, he explained, “We’re kind of blurring the line of, is it streaming? Is it a podcast? Is it an interview series? Is it a TV show? Is it NPR’s Tiny Desk? The idea was to mix casual conversation with creative collaboration.”

He teased that viewers would see big names take part in spontaneous music-making, adding, “You see Ed [Sheeran] come on and we’re making a song from scratch.” 

The guest list already includes A-listers like Ed Sheeran, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Paul Rudd.

Blanco and Gomez tied the knot on September 27, 2025, at the Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California, in a lavish ceremony.

The occasion was graced by some of the biggest names, including Taylor Swift, Paris Hilton, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Ed Sheeran, Paul Rudd, SZA, Zoe Saldana, Cara Delevingne, Ashley Park, and Nina Dobrev. Mark Ronson served as DJ, while Swift and Sheeran gave speeches.

Two months after their wedding, the couple faced a terrifying family ordeal. As The Blast reported, Gomez’s mother-in-law, Sandra Beth Levin, became the victim of a frightening home invasion at her Studio City, Los Angeles residence. 

Levin was home alone around 9:15 p.m. when three masked burglars forced their way into the two-story house by smashing a sliding glass door. 

Hearing the glass shatter, she ran upstairs and barricaded herself in a bathroom while calling 911 for help, police said. 

At one point she cautiously opened the bathroom door and reportedly saw two masked men in the hallway, which startled them and prompted the intruders to flee the scene before officers arrived. 

Thankfully, Levin was unharmed, and investigators said there was no immediate word on whether anything was stolen as part of the alleged burglary.
