Nicolas Cage's Son Continues To Deal With Fallout From Mom's Assault Case

Nicolas Cage's troubled son, Weston Coppola Cage, is back in court over his 2024 assault case.

The legal drama occurred in April 2024 when Weston was accused of violently attacking his mother, Christina Fulton.

Weston Coppola Cage and Christina Fulton appeared in court for a hearing in the case, seemingly still on estranged terms as they arrived separately.

For the hearing on Monday, February 23, Weston arrived at a downtown Los Angeles court in an all-black ensemble. He donned a black shirt underneath a black suit jacket and matching trousers, complementing the fit with sunglasses and multiple necklaces.

Weston arrived in court with an older blonde companion holding his arm and filmed his entrance on his phone. Coincidentally, his mother, Fulton, matched his wardrobe choices in a similar all-black ensemble and cat-eye sunglasses. However, she arrived alone.

Fulton donned a subtle, sheer turtleneck underneath a black blazer and pinstriped trousers. She fitted the pants to her waist with a gold belt and had a black strap bag hanging from one shoulder, as seen in pictures shared by The Daily Mail.

According to the outlet, the hearing was also a mental health check-in with the court for Weston, who continues to deal with the fallout of the assault case. He escaped severe consequences in April 2025 thanks to a deal with the court to enter a mental health diversion program for two years.

At the time, Los Angeles County Judge Enrique Monguia noted that Weston had not been in the right state of mind when the incident occurred. "Mr. Cage does suffer from an eligible mental health disorder. I'm satisfied it was a significant factor in the commission of the charged offenses," the judge said.

Weston had violently attacked his mother on April 28, 2024, during a manic rage. He eventually turned himself in to the authorities on July 10, 2024, and was hit with two felony counts of assault. He later broke his silence on the case, with promises of a tell-all documentary.

In August 2025, Weston appeared at the Future of Film Association's OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas, where he was asked about the assault case. The Blast covered the story, reporting that he implied there was more to the narrative of what transpired between him and Fulton.

"I've definitely been a target for a lot of misconceptions my whole life, but I know that only happens to people who are intimidated by the calling of it," Weston said. He noted that more of his story would come through a documentary titled "The Beast of God."

According to Weston, the project would focus on his turbulent childhood and showcase the parts of him that fans have never known. The documentary would also highlight his spiritual journey. Weston claimed he began experiencing "spiritual awakenings" after his fourth marriage to Jenifer Alexa Canter.

During their 2024 legal battle, Weston and Fulton fired shots at each other. The Blast reported in August 2024 that the "Ghost Rider" actor's son had been banned from approaching his mother after pleading not guilty to the assault charges.

Following the hearing, Weston slammed Fulton while speaking to reporters, declaring, "She needs help." On the other hand, Fulton was shocked by her son's lack of remorse following the violent attack and hoped he would get the help he needed.

Fulton had shared a picture depicting her bruises from the assault, capturing her with a black eye and multiple injuries on her face. Given the gruesome wounds she endured, Fulton stressed that Weston's lack of remorse was painful as a victim and a mother.

The Blast reported in July 2024 that Fulton had broken her silence about the assault, detailing what happened in a candid statement. She recalled receiving urgent messages from Weston's friends on April 28, 2024, around 5:30 pm.

Weston's friends begged her to come help them because her son was in a deteriorating mental state. When Fulton arrived, Weston was in the midst of a manic rage, and her attempts to console him shifted his anger onto her.

Fulton claimed she was "brutally assaulted" by Weston, leading to severe injuries. The incident left her "deeply saddened and concerned about Weston's ongoing mental-health crisis," stressing that it was "imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs."
