Internet Accuses Candace Owens Of ‘Grifting’ Again Over Charlie Kirk Doc
By Daniel Rugunya on February 24, 2026 at 3:15 PM EST

The internet is once again accusing Candace Owens of being a “grifter,” this time over her reported upcoming Charlie Kirk documentary, “Bride of Charlie.”
The controversial pundit shared a two-minute trailer for the investigative series on her X account on February 23, accompanied by the caption, “We’ll be back on Wednesday.”
Owens has remained on the offensive against Erika Kirk ever since Charlie was assassinated in September 2025.
However, the former Daily Wire host’s latest move has not gone down well with everyone.
On social media, the decision to release a documentary series about Kirk has reignited claims that Owens is acting like a “hustler,” with viewers openly questioning the motivations behind the project.

Owens is known for her frequent and often controversial takes on a wide range of subjects. As such, she is no stranger to backlash on social media.
Following her post promoting “Bride of Charlie,” some users claimed they noticed a pattern in her behavior. The fans argued that Owens usually makes so many explosive allegations that they eventually become normalized.
“Candace Owens grifts so often that when she does stuff like this, it actually seems genuine,” one comment on Reddit observed.
On the actual post, reactions were even more blunt in questioning her motives.
“If you ever wonder just how far someone will go for money and attention… now you know,” one user wrote. “It doesn’t get much lower than this.”
Owens ‘Seeks To Reclaim’ Charlie Kirk’s Legacy In Controversial New Series

Among the bold accusations Owens has made is that the leadership of Turning Point USA betrayed Charlie, who served as the organization’s CEO before his assassination.
The slain online personality was a known close associate of Owens prior to his tragic passing, and she has repeatedly suggested that his legacy is being mishandled.
The rapid-cut trailer for “Bride of Charlie” frames Erika as behaving “strangely” in the aftermath of her husband’s death.
Multiple talking heads featured in the forthcoming project appear to question her actions, including the alleged sale of merchandise on the day of Charlie’s funeral.
According to Owens, a premiere for the first episode is scheduled for February 25.
Critic Argues Candace Owens Is ‘Trapped’ By Her Own Audience

As reactions continue to pour in following Owens’ trailer for “Bride of Charlie,” some observers say the controversy reflects a broader pattern in her coverage of high-profile women.
Will Sommer of The Bulwark compared the upcoming documentary series to previous commentary Owens has made.
“I think previously, Candace had talked about people like Meghan Markle and Blake Lively,” he said. “The audience just goes crazy, and they get in a frenzy [for this type of subject]. I think they’re looking at Erika Kirk in the same way.”
Sommer added that Owens now appears constrained by the very audience she cultivated.
“Whenever Candace tries to get back to the more Republican-coded celebrity gossip she’s used to, her audience is furious,” he said.
Candace Owens Previously Claimed Charlie Was A ‘Time Traveler’

Another time when the label “grifter” was brought up in relation to Owens dates back to a claim she made in January, that Charlie had often told her he was a time traveler.
In a clip extracted from an episode of her podcast on YouTube, Owens asserts that her late friend believed he had traveled from the future to locate her in the present.
“He said, as I showed you in earlier messages, that he was a time traveler and he had to find me,” she said.
In the comments section, one user wrote, “The grift is insane,” and another said, “The grift never stops.”
Erika Kirk Called Out Owens’ Conspiracies In CBS Town Hall

Kirk has not been as vocal in the public back-and-forth as Owens has, but she did directly address her and other conspiracy theorists during a town hall interview in December 2025.
The TPUSA CEO was speaking with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss when she explicitly named Owens.
“The podcaster Candace Owens,” Kirk said. “She has been one of the main peddlers of these conspiracies, and she is making a huge amount of money on it. She is building her business off of these lies.”
