NBC Star Called Out For Callous Move During Savannah Guthrie Family Crisis

Savannah Guthrie’s colleagues have rallied around her as she faces the disappearance of her mother. 

Yellow ribbons have flooded the “Today” show set in a public show of support as the search stretches into another week. 

However, while the gesture was meant to symbolize unity, it has sparked quiet tension inside NBC. 

One high-profile anchor’s decision not to participate has now become the talk of the newsroom.

In the wake of Nancy Guthrie’s shocking kidnapping in Tucson, Arizona, NBC staff moved quickly to stand behind Savannah Guthrie. 

On-air talent began wearing yellow ribbons, matching the flowers placed outside Nancy’s home and the ribbons tied by neighbors in her community. The symbol was meant to send a clear message of hope and solidarity.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, one staffer revealed, “It started as something beautiful.” Regular “Today” faces including Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager, and Sheinelle Jones have all worn the ribbons during broadcasts. 

The shared gesture helped send a clear message of support to Savannah as she stays in Arizona with her family.

However, what began as a heartfelt tribute has now become something else entirely, as some inside the network are paying close attention to who is and isn’t  participating.

While most of NBC’s morning team embraced the yellow ribbon, NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas reportedly did not. That decision did not escape notice.

“That didn’t go unnoticed,” one insider shared. “When everyone else is wearing one, the absence becomes louder than the symbol.”

Inside a network where image and unity matter, even a small wardrobe decision can spark conversation. Another staffer admitted, “If you’re not visibly with the team, people start asking why.”

Still, sources close to the situation have cautioned against reading too much into it. 

There is reportedly no formal requirement to wear the ribbons, and some insiders insist that not every styling choice carries deeper meaning.

While yellow ribbons remain on display, practical realities are unfolding quietly in the background. An NBC editor has reportedly begun preparing Nancy’s obituary segment.

A source confirmed that executives want the piece “ready to go” in case of any “heartbreaking” developments. 

Though hope remains, the preparation shows the gravity of the situation as the search enters its fourth week.

Law enforcement continues investigating, including the use of genetic genealogy to analyze DNA collected from Nancy’s home. 

One expert has suggested that “he will be identified” through the new technology, warning the suspect should be concerned “right now.”

For Savannah Guthrie, the emotional toll is evident. She has not returned to the “Today” show, and questions are beginning to swirl about what comes next.

As days turn into weeks, speculation about Savannah Guthrie’s career has intensified. The longtime anchor, who has held her position since 2012, is reportedly weighing whether she will ever return to the show.

In the latest update regarding Nancy’s case, The Blast reported that an Arizona couple reported a chilling discovery of blood-stained gloves and a rock near the search area for the missing 84-year-old.

The pair said they found two black gloves with what appeared to be blood on them and a rock with a dried blood droplet in desert terrain about a mile from Nancy’s home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills on Feb. 11, just days after she vanished on January 31. 

The gloves were found about 10 feet apart off Campbell Avenue, and the couple revealed they did not touch the items but took photos and immediately reported them to law enforcement because the gloves looked “like it was used for something that could’ve possibly been what they were looking for.” 

Investigators later collected the items as part of the ongoing search, though it remains unclear whether the gloves yielded usable forensic evidence.
