NFL players are sharing their heartfelt reactions after learning of Rondale Moore's sudden passing on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Rondale Moore died of a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. He was 25.

According to WAVE, New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said his team found Moore deceased in a garage with "what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
The NAPD later confirmed on Saturday that Moore's death was under investigation.
Moore was a standout player at Purdue University from 2018 to 2020. The Arizona Cardinals later drafted him in 2021.
A string of setbacks marked Moore’s time in the league. After dealing with multiple knee injuries in Arizona, he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, where he unfortunately suffered yet another season-ending injury.
In 2025, a trade sent Moore to the Minnesota Vikings, but he tore his ACL during a preseason practice.

The Minnesota Vikings released an official statement shortly after learning of Moore's death, saying they were "deeply saddened" by his sudden passing.
Continuing, the Vikings said that while they wait for the "facts," they've connected with Moore's family to offer "condolences and the full support of the Minnesota Vikings."
"We have also been in communication with our players, coaches, and staff, and will make counseling and emotional support resources available to anyone in need," the statement read.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said he was "devastated" by Moore's passing in his own statement.
"While Rondale had been a member of the Vikings for a short time, he was someone we came to know well and care about deeply. He was a humble, soft-spoken and respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots," he said.

NFL players have also been reacting to Moore's death, including his former Arizona teammate, Kyler Murray.
Murray shared an image of them during a Cardinals game, stating he was "blessed to have been able to share this life with you."
Hollywood Brown of the Kansas City Chiefs shared several posts to X, one of which read, "You wasn't alone, bro... I told you I know how you feel."
"Bro, ain't no way, brotha you just messaged me a few hours ago," another one of Brown's posts read.
Miami Dolphins star Raheem Mostert encouraged his social media followers to reach out to their support systems if needed. "This is me checking in on any and everyone," he added.

Similarly, Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders recalled playing against Moore in college, calling him one of the "coldest" players he'd seen on the field. "Check on your people," he said. "Too much hate in this world. Stay positive."

On Reddit, users shared messages similar to those of some of the league's biggest stars.
"No shame in reaching out to someone, anyone, if you have suicidal thoughts," one user wrote.
"Man, this is so sad and tragic," another posted. "I know it's hard to come forward to talk to someone because you don't think anything will get better, but I promise you it can."

The news of Moore's death comes just months after the NFL lost another player, Marshawn Kneeland, by suicide.
According to ESPN, Frisco, Texas, police officers were assisting the Texas Department of Public Safety in locating a car that had eluded them during a pursuit.
Authorities later found Kneeland’s car crashed. They said the football player fled on foot and was later located with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After the latest death by suicide, the NFL Players Association issued a statement, reminding players that the league has support resources available for them.
"Please know that support is always within reach," the statement read. "Check on your teammates and prioritize your mental health. If you or someone you know is struggling, we encourage you to take advantage of the many confidential resources available to you through the NFLPA."
