Best known for his roles on "Grey's Anatomy" and "Euphoria," Dane left behind not only a celebrated career but also heartfelt messages for his daughters.

In what became his final interview, released shortly after his death and currently streaming on Netflix, he spoke directly to Billie and Georgia.

"Billie and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried," Dane began. "I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn't we? I remember all the times we spent at the beach, the two of you, me, and Mom in Malibu, Santa Monica, Hawaii, Mexico."

He continued, "I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies. Those days, pun intended, were heaven."

Dane also shared lessons he said he learned through his illness. He encouraged his daughters to "live now, right now, in the present," and not lose themselves in worry or self-doubt, something he admitted struggling with in the past.

He urged them to pursue what excites them, to "fall in love" with a passion "that makes you wanna get up in the morning, drives you through the entire day."

For Dane, that passion was acting, which he said he first discovered around their age.

For his third and fourth lessons, Dane advised his daughters to be intentional about the friendships they choose and to face life's challenges with courage and dignity.

Elsewhere in the interview, Dane reflected on how he believed Billie and Georgia might remember him.

"I think they would lead with I'm a reactive person," he said. "My dad was a reactive person, not necessarily a negative connotation. Some of their core memories involve me reacting to something. You know, traffic is always a good impetus for that."

"I think that they would say I was pretty tough. Resilient," Dane continued. "They would say I was loving and I was really endearing and compassionate and empathetic and trustworthy. I'm a good dad."

He also smiled while recalling family travels, including a memorable road trip through the French countryside.
