Another ESPN report details exactly what went down between Brown, a 2024 NBA champion, and officers from the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Last Saturday, February 14, law enforcement shut down a brand event Brown was hosting at the home of Oakley founder Jim Jannard.

A spokesperson for the city of Beverly Hills issued a statement at the time, saying it had rejected a permit for the event due to past violations at Jannard's home.

That justification was later debunked, prompting the city to issue an official apology for the erroneous information.

"Upon further internal review, the City has determined that its prior public communication contained inaccurate information," the statement read. "Specifically, no permit application was submitted nor denied for the event and the residence does not have any prior related violations on record. The City takes full accountability for the internal error that resulted in the inaccurate statement being distributed and is working to ensure it does not happen again."

Despite the city’s apology, Brown dismissed the gesture as "half a**" and took to X to further criticize the city.

While speaking to reporters later, Brown raised concerns regarding other individuals who may have been subjected to similar treatment by the department.

"If it happened to me, I'm sure it happened to a bunch of people in the past," he said. "I look at it like that. There are probably a bunch of people that don't scream, falls on deaf fears, which is unfortunate. I'm not sure what the conclusion is."

Brown later said that he didn't believe "the apology is acceptable" because he lost "[$300,000]."

"People were making assumptions that we didn't go through the proper protocols. So, all around it's just a bad taste in my mouth. I'm extremely offended. My team is offended. I'm not sure what the conclusion is going to be. All I know is it's some bullsh*t," he added.

Per ESPN, Brown's event was set to host an open conversation with National Basketball Players Association president Andre Iguodala before it was shut down by Beverly Hills police.

"The event was to talk about future culture, future leadership, how industries are working together," Brown said. "Change doesn't come from one entity. It comes from everybody working together. I had leaders from different fields all talking about [what] the next generation could and should look like."

Although Brown declined to speculate if the department's actions were racially motivated, he remained firm that his guests and the event "were targeted."

Brown Previously Spoke About Viral Moment That Had Everyone Talking

Before his unfortunate interaction with Beverly Hills police, Brown made headlines for an entirely different reason: his hair.

During a previous matchup against the New York Knicks, Brown left hair product on star player OG Anunoby's jersey, sparking reactions from netizens all over.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Brown confessed to feeling initial embarrassment before consciously shifting his perspective on the viral moment.

"When embarrassment, failure, loss, anything like that happens, there's two ways you can go. It can be spirit breaking, and you can go into a little shell and try to hide from it, or you can use it as fuel, get more focus, get more discipline, get more locked in, and go out and maximize your potential," he said.
