Bethenny Frankel Says 'Please Get Tested' In Chronic Kidney Disease Update

Bethenny Frankel will not stop preaching the gospel of timely medical check-ups.

The media personality shared another update on her chronic kidney disease following her recent visit to the doctor, who expatriates on several unhealthy health regimen people indulge in and the need to be discontinued.

Bethenny Frankel's kidney disease diagnosis comes on the heels of her bacterial infection during her stay at a St. Barts hotel, forcing her to cut her New Year's plan short.

The former reality star expressed that her chronic kidney disease diagnosis is now at Stage 3A, which is right in the middle of the kidney function loss spectrum. Frankel expressed that according to her doctor, the stage she is at does not require medication yet, just tons and tons of water intake.

The media personality admitted that while she will not be alarmed at the moment, she is struggling with anxiety, especially because she is always dehydrated. She noted that the doctor also found a nodule on her liver in the sonogram, and more tests would be carried out on that.

Frankel then added that the doctor referred to the current wellness trend of people consuming several supplements for different reasons and how it leaves grave side effects on their kidneys.

"He said Moringa and Turmeric, yes, are not good for the kidney in a one-size-fits-all model, but all of the other supplements everyone is being pushed and sold affect people differently," Frankel explained further.

She concluded the video by urging her fans to go for necessary tests and check-ups, adding that supplement usage should be taken at the direction of a doctor.

Frankel's Instagram post caused a discussion in the comment section where her followers spoke about the dangers of indiscriminate consumption of supplements and vitamins.

"THIS IS 100% ACCURATE! I once was taking a popular hair growth product, and it caused me to have huge issues with my blood clotting! What should have been a small bruise for bumping my leg turned into half of my leg covered in a bruise! Turns out the insanely high amount of vitamin E in the product caused this!" this commenter shared.

Another fan backed her statement on water usage, sharing a true-life story of her mother drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day after getting a stage 2 kidney disease diagnosis and still living long enough into her 90s.

This fan asked how someone with no symptoms can know they have kidney disease, to which Frankel replied that blood tests and sonograms are the way to go.

"Also, watch your potassium and protein!!! The kidneys need good fats! Make sure there's no blood in your urine. It's not visible. Get a good nephrologist! Mine is the chief nephrologist at HUMC. He was at the Mayo Clinic," this fan emphasized.

The 55-year-old shared in a TikTok video back in January that she discovered more than she bargained for when she followed up on her promise to get more blood work done for 2026. As shared by The Blast, Frankel spotted a consistent trend in her test results, which always had her kidney function come back low.

She eventually got a diagnosis on the 22nd of January, and she began thinking of possible origins for her condition, which may have stemmed from an allergic attack she had in the past or an autoimmune disease. Frankel explained that it could also be from her frequent UTI in the past, although she does not get them anymore.

She also blamed her low daily water intake as another possible cause, adding that she left the doctor's office with a warning to stay away from pain-relieving drugs like ibuprofen and Advil, alongside supplements like turmeric.

Frankel noted that she may now have to deal with her kidney disease for a very long time, but she is advising her fans early so they will not find themselves in her shoes.

Frankel always leaves her fans with life lessons from her personal situations, and for the New Year, she opened it with a scary account of her getting a facial infection from her stay at a hotel in St. Barts.

The Blast reported that she revealed that her daughter, Bryn, initially recognized it was a rash because she had suffered the same before. Frankel added in her TikTok video that bacteria find it very easy to breed on hotel towels and sheets if they are not cleaned immediately after use.

The social media influencer identified some more surfaces for bacteria to breed, which include makeup sponges, brushes, and powder puffs. Frankel concluded her episode with a resolve never to use hotel towels or sheets again, describing her experience as very traumatic.

She noted that her dermatologist said that even cleaned surfaces and sheets still carry a significant amount of bacteria.

The podcaster and her second husband, Jason Hoppy, called it quits in 2012 and finalized their divorce about 9 years later in 2021, following a nasty legal battle.

She revisited the case of her divorce last year, describing the whole process as very exhausting and left her dealing with an emotional rollercoaster. Frankel added that some of the most daunting situations she witnessed as a child cannot even compare to the hurdles she had to cross to finalize the divorce.

I have seen my mother slit her wrists. I have lived my whole life chasing her into bathrooms, trying to catch her throwing up. I've been through everything. I've seen her beaten within an inch of her life. Nothing compares to what my divorce was for 10 years," she added.

Ultimately, Frankel had to stay alive for her daughter while meticulously paying attention to all the details in her divorce, refusing to neglect every loose end. She also saw her divorce as a justification for every couple to put a prenuptial in place before settling down with anyone.
