Mabrey Opens Up About Playing Against Caitlin Clark And The Indiana Fever

Mabrey acknowledged that while she prides herself on being a passionate player, she’s still figuring out how to keep her composure on the hardwood.

"On the flip side, when we were in Indiana, everyone is booing us, it feels like sh-t. We end up losing by 25, and it’s like, ‘Marina, that’s your fault, buddy. You can’t do that,'" she added.

For Mabrey, "fining the balance" is key to being an effective leader on any squad she's part of.

"Everybody's had that one teammate that just goes crazy, and you're just looking at them like, 'Can you please get over yourself?' And I need to stay away from that side and go toward the side where you're amped up," she said.

Mabrey's outburst on the court happened in the third quarter of the Fever's contest against the Sun.

According to an AP report, it had been a fiery game from the start, but things reached a turning point when Jacy Sheldon accidentally poked Clark in the eye, prompting the Iowa alum to swat her away.

Mabrey took offense to Clark’s reaction, reacting by swooping in and sending the Fever star to the ground.

Mabrey received a Flagrant-2 foul and a $400 fine.

Fever head coach Stephanie White slammed the officiating crew during the post-game conference, stating, "I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing. When the officials don’t get control of the ball game, when they allow that stuff to happen … this is what happens."
